  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Here it is...

...yes to plugin support...
Jim

Once again, fantastic work. Can't wait.

Jim, question: Can you please elaborate on the "plugin support"?

What types of apps will be supported? What architecture?

Are we talking only about image processing plugins, or is this much more wide open to apps such as file conversion and EDL / XML support?

thanks for your continued commitment to this outstanding program.

Silly  ; but only way I could think of to show my excitement of
REDCINE-X .......:drool5: :drool5: :drool5: ..... :grouphug: :grouphug:

That looks awesome! I can't wait! Imagine the fun when my red rocket arrives.

Awesome! Unbelievable. I have high hopes for this.

Hello... Department of Redundancy Department... May I help you... yes, thats correct.... August.... uh huh... August... No sir... August...

Looks awesome! Congrats! :hurray:

Now if it only supported EDLs so that it could actually be used in a decent workflow...

So pretty and so cool. Everyone's eyes are just dazzled so they miss the details. Lemme guess. Comes out in August, right?

Nice promo. Way to make a piece of software seem exciting!

Can someone please explain to me how this would be used in an Avid or FCP workflow?

Do you use R-X to do a best light on the footage before you render it into Prores (for FCP) or make new QT proxies and an ALE (for Avid)?

Does it replace Redrushes for these workflows? Or is it that you create new LUT for each shot in R-X that Redrushes will then read when you make the ALE and proxies / Prores renders?

My guess is that supporting EDLs in R-X might encroach on Scratch territory.

It's a nice thought to start releasing more "consumer friendly" software now that RED has some "consumer friendly" cameras on the horizon.

I'd love some more details on what the software actually does, though... :)

One day everything I will need to make a movie will be all Red products!

Importing EDLs wouldn't encroach on Scratch. Scratch is so much more than just a way to render conformed EDLs at full debayer. It's a full feature color grading system. Scratch makes REDCINE-X look like iMovie/iPhoto for RED:) Although, you don't really need Scratch to make REDCINE-X look like a RED version of iMovie as there are several similarities on it's own.

Don't get me wrong, I think REDCINE-X is going to be a very useful application on it's own, but there's still a place for both full feature editorial and coloring systems. My hope is that we'll be able to do best light dailies with it using the REDRocket and a broadcast monitor. Nice simple setup.

so ... anyone process the significance of plug-in support?

I can think of a LOT of plug-ins that do things like secondaries ... vignettes ... tracking ... noise reduction ... grain simulation ...

curious what plug-in architecture will be supported ... I think for the folks that can't afford DI systems ... this is significant.

just sayin ...

yep, I asked about it - haven't heard back yet. :-)

so, one question, when will.... :)

looks like a great app.... so a xml interface like the current redcine has would be great....
but we have with clipfinder and monkey two really great conforming tools....

cant wait like every time....

a lot of new things came out these days.... so keep the good work and let it come....

thx

Looks very nice, user friendly.

Where does it fit in a workflow ?
I mean, how does it conform to say FCP or CS4 ?

or...does it open as a guest app (or plugin) in FCP ?

I'd bet on an OpenFX effect plug-in interface.

Which would ROCK HARD.

The Foundry Furnace for OFX Floating License

Furnace for OFX is a collection of plug-in tools to help film compositors correct common problems. It is the culmination of two years’ research into motion estimation and has been developed in close conjuction with film effects houses in London. The plug-ins include motion vector retiming, wire removal, clean plating, grain tools, texture tools and plug-ins to correct camera shake and non-uniform luma flickering. .

The question that should have been asked is not whether redcine-x has edl support, but whether it is scriptable with something like (or exactly the same as) redline. Because if it is scriptable then adding edl support is possible. like monkeyextract
