  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

So....any idea who the first 100 are? Any way to find out what ones order number might be? Don't want to lose my place in this virtual line.

That's the point. Only a few knows.
I just know that i sent my order nov 27, asked for a confirmation 4 times and received just an upsetting silence.

Another part arrived. The last parts should come by courier in a couple of hours.

Attached is a picture of the collimation mechanism. The numbered aluminum ring rotates, and the gold numbers stay stationary. The picture reads 23/100 mm. This is a relative distance. When collimating, our software will tell you how much to add or subtract to get closer to right on. Dial in the new number. Repeat until the software reports zero. Generally two or three iterations is sufficient.

Using a different lens mount? or using the same mnount on a different camera? Just dial in the number you wrote down - and you don't need to recollimate. Mount changes with four/eight screws, and the setting of a dial. A few minutes - tops.
I'm not tech but does seem good news for my both Birger Canon and Nikon mounts! Thanks.

Ciao Emanuel,
see you in Cannes, gonna spot for your motorhome.

Erik, that's awesome-looking engineering.

I have a feeling your mount and programmable control surface combo is going to be the most desired and valuable accessory for the RED camera. I, for one, would not be getting the camera if it weren't for the promise of intelligent SLR lens functionality that came when your mount was announced. It really made the RED package doable for me financially.

"Thank you" just doesn't seem sufficient. Hope you sell a ton of them and get very rich.:)

Totally.... I think that in many ways I am as excited by Birger and what Eric is doing with integrating SLR lenses into film-making as I was about the RED

I have used SLR's for a long time and I look forward to playing with the lenses in that world on a serious motion picture camera.

Rock On!!

If it helps, I ordered on Nov 28 and I'm #80 So you should be in the first 100.

to be (in the first 100) ... or not to be (in the first 100)

How do you lot know your numbers ??? I received confirmation on Nov 29th from Erik (email + invoice) plus deposit taken ... but I have no idea what is the likely number and therefore potential delivery date (all I have a confirmation number of 107.240814 which means sweet nothing to me).

I could REALLY (pretty please  ) do with it before April 22nd, when I jump on a plane ...

oh, I seeeeeeeee ...

oh, I seeeeeeeee ...

Because I was one of those buggers that called him up to know.

ohhh, I seeeeeeeee ... I faxed on Sat, Nov 24th and confirmed by email on Mon, Nov 26th, so in theory I'm < #80

Fingers crossed ...

I'm a November 30th child. But I never got any confirmation. Where am I likely to be on the list?

I'm DESPERATE for this mount! We are shooting a feature starting NEXT MONTH!

Anyone willing to trade their mount for the one I'll have coming a week or two later? We need some practice with this thing before we shoot!

I'm serious. . . this is a big mess I just have to get resolved VERY soon.

Stephen

145 lens mounts were ordered during the month of November. Please all be patient for a few more days. We are building and testing, and getting ready for Tuesday... we will start with the confirmations as soon as I announce that I am ready for the REDuser party. The flight cases are prepped. The demo is completely hands on.

I will offer a proper appology when we start shipping... for now patience is important.

what is the total amount of orders... if that's okay to say. also, what is the anticipated, approximate shipping schedule? how many will you be producing per week, etc. thanks!

I agree with you totally, and have made the point repeatedly that SLR lenses make a huge financial incentive to go with RED over something like an HPX3000, Varicam, F900 etc. that require 15K to 25K just for a lens to give the optical quality we get with $500 to $2500 worth of slr lenses.

And I wanted to be post #1000 so apologies for the bump posts.

BTW I just saw the pictures of the collimation setup. As some of you know I have had one of Erik's industrial mounts on my RED for a couple of months and I was very impressed with the design and machining of that piece which is part of the reason I have been such a homer/true believer. But your new mount is much cooler than I even imagined - the collimation mechanism is brilliant.

Erik, you and your product ROCK!!!

Are you sure Mike? Really sure? :)

Ciao Emanuel,

Are you looking for the KETCH girls, right?... :whistling: I hope to meet you sooner at Rome. I hope to be there next week (I'm still in Hamburg these days). BTW, do you know any box with 6-7 meters length in Rome or in the neighborhood? Or a flat with any sort of cortile for the vehicle?

On the way, any flat for more than one... (hey, I'm talking about girls...) But on that I would bet that any monolocale serves anyway... :) :innocent:

I didn't want to wade through 100 pages of posts, so I think I'll just ask.

I emailed them twice in the last two weeks to see how I can purchase the mount now that my camera is ready, but I didn't hear anything back. Any pointers on how to order the mount? Anyone actually get it yet? Sounds like quite a backlog (aieee).

Lastly, the free remote offer will remain open until NAB opens, so I (and you) don't have to worry about potentially lost reservations and associated phone calls.

SO... if I send in the FAX for the order this week, I would still qualify for the free blue tooth offer? And is the 20% deposit still refundable?

Thanks in advance
