  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Thanks. The full program is now streaming online, although the quality is pretty poor. Link is here: http://www.wgbh.org/programs/programDetail.cfm?programid=97
Please note that the program is 90 mins long and the reenactments I shot with the Red/Birger combo are only about 15 mins of that and sprinkled throughout.

Yes, IS works with birger. There is even a command to turn it on and off.

Yeah. I thought I was a handheld rockstar one day when I was doing some very still moments and they were really solid. Then I realized I had stabilization on. Oh well, "they" think I'm a rockstar. LOL. I turn it off for more frenetic stuff.

Overall - Birger has it's quirks but does work well. Just completed a movie with both Birger and Bartech on Canon lenses. I really liked the Bartech, but the Birger performs as well and is faster on big racks. Biggest problem I've had with the Birger is losing sync. Occasionally happens while wired. Bartech had better wireless range/consistency and longer battery life.

Maybe there's a way to build an external battery pack for the Impero that lasts longer?

Use lithium batteries last longer.
Bigger is not better, longer lasting is the key:-)

Can't figure out the Imperio's menus.
Anybody knows anything about it?
Invoke it with 5 sec press on FN button.

D-Tap Power

D-Tap Power

We are making some D-Tap to LEMO power cables, for powering the mount directly from the battery plate. Connectors arrived from Anton-Bauer today. Any suggestions for the length?

Hello Erik,

How can I purchase the PL mount?

Hey there, Erik. . .

. . . have you made those D-tap Impero cables? What lengths did you settle on? I'm tried of changing batteries on this thing, and my early Impero won't work with the supplied cable.

Thanks. I really love the system. Very smooth. The only problems we ever have with the system is that it sometimes takes three or four sync attempts to get it to synch when we change a lens or power cycle the camera.

Stephen
