Fun commercial I shot for Shangri-La recently on the Epic-W. Helium took some taming to get used to, but I'm feeling good with it now. Shot with Cooke S4i / Angenieux 25-250mm

Nice work!
The lighting/look from 1:35 - 1:43 especially was really great.

Appreciate it thanks Akin

Been waiting for the finished piece since the very second you posted those stills.
Fanstastic work. Helium + Cooke is a force to be reckoned with.
Thanks Aaron, definitely a beast combo :)

Beautiful images no doubt. So Jason, did you decide to keep your Epic-W after all?
Thanks Brody! Yeah, I just get really emotional when I have problems with my cameras that I own. I've been speaking with Graeme and tech about the issues, we are in good hands.

Wow Jason... that looks sickkk. Which shots are with Angienieux 25-250? Thanks for sharing.
Only the aerials, rest are cooke!

Jason what resolution did you shoot at? 8K? Or lower?
Looks great. Thanks for sharing.
All 8K WS, aerials had to be shot on 6K due to angenieux not supporting 8k (huge vignette on 8k)

Jason! Great work. What did you use to stabilize the camera in the chopper?

I can understand, especially when investing so much. I do expect some great improvements in the near future FW and color updates. Two weeks ago I was on a shoot with the Arri mini w/ Cooke Ana's, and it was great footage, but it was missing something, I feel it was the resolution. Over all pretty happy with Helium, but the color science/banding fix can't come soon enough.

Thanks Scot! The aerial was not that great to be honest, it's literally me with a hi-hat and a miller head. No stabilization...which is why you'll see some vibrations (stabilized in post). The aerials were a nightmare as Shangri-La asked us for close ups of their building, which means I have to go on a chopper with a zoom lens. My first choice was to go with an Alta but we weren't allowed to fly that close downtown. I wish they gave us the budget to bring in gyro attachments on the chopper but didn't happen

I felt exactly the same about the alexa mini Brody. I used that same setup (arri mini & cooke ana) and I fell in love with it as the rolloff and color science on the alexa is gorgeous. I actually almost bought one, however, after shooting with it for a while and comparing with my RED side by side, it honestly felt like I'm looking at 480p when reviewing the alexa beside my 8k. A lot of people say resolution doesn't matter, and I'm one of those people that didn't care all too much about it but the detail from higher resolution scaled down is amazing. My biggest problem with Alexa mini was actually their raw format, arriraw is 1:1 at max 3.4k and it came down to around the same file size as my 8K R3D 8:1. I only shoot raw as my post process requires it, so that means I'm stuck at 3.4k arriraw. Both cameras have their own advantages, but for me color science on a camera is not a deal breaker as I know it's really the lighting/lens/grade that really determines the look

Amazing work!

Couldn't you have gone handheld with a movi or Ronin up in the chopper?

Jason the work looks amazing. Congrats.
I am glad to hear your findings on the Epic-W and the state of mind adjustments....:)
Thanks Alberto, I recall the time you suggested that I rethink my decision, thanks for that :)

Jason:
Incredible work.
Thank you very much Joel!

Great work man! Did you use a Ronin?
Yes it was all 100% gimbal.

Amazing work!

That was my first choice, but I couldn't gimbal with the Angenieux (too heavy/long) and I needed a long lens. Plus didn't have a proper way to strap down the movi so the possibility of dropping it was a little scary. Lesson learned though, next time I'm definitely either making the movi work or get a gyro attachment to the chopper
