  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

It looks like there's 13 gold contacts above the Mini mag and 13 gold contacts on the back.

I hope my plus one module will still work I must have LCD and an EVF with my setup. I don't see ANY RED monitor ports at all on this video and that scares me a little bit. I like the power and video cable being one i do not want to go back to the old HDMI or BNC connectors like is shown here.

Fear nothing.

As Jarred mentioned there are two places to connect RED LCD/EVF displays.

Kind of like having a +1 Module built in really.

I'd take off every labeling but the Red logo and button naming but regardless...new body looks very good and a lot of improvements are visible. This looks as a new generation device.
Congrats to the team.

But actually...you can fear a little bit that your +1 will get harder to sell when Weapon is released cause it's not compatible :)

Not really - there will be plenty of Epic's & Scarlet's hanging around for years. Not everyone will upgrade; either because they can't afford it or they are moving to a different system. The used market will remain strong for a couple of years despite all of the doomsayers here on R/U

Really? I have a couple Angie S35 lenses that dropped to half price after the 6K sensor size increase. Got some memory cards to go with.

I get the feeling that all less than FF35 size glass is about to take it in the pants as well as most RED accessories. That's the cost of progress I suppose. Shoulda held onto that K35 18mm lens . . . DANG!

Great great great. It seems to be an impressive general improvement.
Now the price! I need to know if I continue to salivate with the possibility of buying it or if I just stop coming here until the end of NAB ^^

Here's a video guess.

2x evf or touch screen
1x hdmi
1x hdsdi
legacy module

So 4 separate output streams, two for the camera dept and two out to "other" monitors.

But what I think will be really cool (and this is the real guess) is the 4 different LUTs (3dcube?) you can put on the outputs. :)

cue mark at offhollywood doing cartwheels if my guess is correct. :)

I wonder if an SDI adapter is coming for the two on-board proprietary ports.

...assuming you have full control over camera functions from the built in UI on the dumb side, why not make the possibility of having no RED LDC and two standard SDI on-board monitors?
