  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OFFHOLLYWOOD OMOD for Weapon - It's ALIVE!!!!

Now if we (as in, the industry) could just agree on a standardized "slot" for wireless mics, I'd be a very happy camper.

Unislot and SuperSlot are already the standards for wireless audio receivers.

But the Sennheiser MKE-2 AVX Wireless Set is the most bad ass piece of wireless audio kit money can buy. Snaps into a standard XLR - you can rotate the position. It just WORKS. I'll be showing it off a lot on the Audio Only OMOD - https://www.gothamsound.com/product/mke-2-avx-wireless-set

I was going to but two inside an OMOD - but after testing - it's just really bad ass the way it is.

Question Mark. The Audio Only OMOD, can it work on top of the Base Expander?

A curious Weapon shooter in LA wants to know. (me)

No you can't "stack" modules. But the "Audio Only" OMOD module has 1 x HDMI, 1x SDI, CRTL + AUX PWR 2-pin Lemos + 4-pin AUX PWR/RunSTOP, USB power & TC IN. So, not sure why you would want a Base Expander.

And the "audio" is not just two full size XLRs - it's a serious audio board - AES/Analog/LINE/Mic/Limiters/Pre-Amps/push-to-operate controls/LED meters/LED peak indicators

Perfect. I was thrown off by "audio only". That's more like "hey, I also do windows and dishes while whistle'n".

Yeah - I need to name the OMOD flavors. I call it "Audio Only" because it does not have the "OMOD Engine" in it - which is our video processing board with Pomfort Live Grade integration, and all the other mad crazy stuff we are sticking in there. Wait until I show you live frame grab/store and custom image overlays with transparency and all the other crazy stuff we are sticking onto the OMOD Engine's firmware - it's a VFX dudes dream.

Yep, that sounds right up my alley. Looking forward to that.

Hi Mark - if you you cannot stack modules to the back of the audio unit how is power supplied to the weapon or raven, does it have v lock attached ! it would be good to see some pics or diagrams if possible.

And this...

you cannot stack multiple I/O modules on DSMC2 but you can have a I/O module plus a power only module...

like you can have a RED base expander + Revolt XL module (or ET V-Lock module)
You just can not stack 2 base expanders in hope to adding multiple audio in or video outs... :-)

A bit confused with modules and expanders... but I think I am slowly catching up.
I love this "Audio only" OMOD, but not sure how you would go about powering the camera using V-Mount batteries. So what would be a good V-Lock option, ergonomically speaking, for the OffHollywood "Audio only" OMOD?

So ... ALL OMODs have DC input (same LEMO as EPIC) on their bodies.

You MUST use an OMOD Battery Plate if you want to put a battery directly on an OMOD.

There is a AB / GOLD MOUNT plate and a V MOUNT plate. Take'em on and off or swap 'em with 4 captive M3 socket screws.

These plates ONLY work with OMODs. The reason is - we have our own interface that passes video back from the OMOD to optional, cable-free video transmitters (all primary Teradek & Paralinx flavors) that you can "sandwich" between ANY OMOD and an OMOD Battery Plate - no cables, nice and purty.

Further - you can NOT use a RED Battery Module on an OMOD as we have redundant power distro, etc.

Curious if we're talking scratch/backup quality preamps, or will these be good enough to use without a quality external mixer for quick turn around work? Either way, at the very least, proper connectors and line level signal is a very welcome addition.

The OMOD Audio board is designed by an audio engineer who has been engineering mixers for an industry leader for decades.

Nice!

Just curious—is the Ambient clock going to be available for the "audio only" version, or will that require stepping up to the OMOD engine?

That requires stepping up to the OMOD Engine. Primary reason is - the OMOD Engine generates GENLOCK from the timing of the Ambient ACN module. And you really need this if you want drop dead - frame accurate TC. But the "audio only" version of course has a 5-pin lemo so you can jam from a lockit or slate.

Hi Mark,

You have Cmotion support, do you plan on having RTmotion support as well ? With their new box, it would be awesome being able to use latitude with DSLR lenses, and PL + Motors in OMOD with their hand unit. One controller to rule them all.

Our cmotion support will also control EF mount lenses - but I'm also very interested in RTmotion integration as well.

Also, as an FYI - we will show some "specialty" OMODs that we will build for an OFFHOLLYOOD rentals only model - and if there is sufficient demand - we will sell them.

For example - at NAB 2016 we intend to show an ANDRA OMOD on WEAPON - http://andra.com in addition to our OMOD ARRAY module for VR and panorama shooting.
