  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OFFHOLLYWOOD OMOD for Weapon - It's ALIVE!!!!

Hocus Axis1 support for a solid cheap single-channel would be rad!

I'm not really going for cheap. This stuff is VERY complicated - so ... when I decided I was going to do this - I committed to make awesome, very high quality stuff - and it's going to cost what it's going to cost.

Of course we want to serve the larger markets with smaller budgets - and we will do our best. But don't look to us for "cheap" solutions. Someone else is gonna have to step up and try that. And I wish them luck cause they are gonna need it.

I meant no offense; I have no doubt your OMOD will be solid and is not tailored to cheap, I just love my Axis1! I cant wait until the OMOD hits the market so I can get one; I'll be spending the money on that rather than swapping my Axis1 for a CMotion

For example - at NAB 2016 we intend to show an ANDRA OMOD on WEAPON - http://andra.com in addition to our OMOD ARRAY module for VR and panorama shooting.
Wow... Another bomb. :) Yup, direct communication between a RED and Andra makes a lot of sense. Awesome stuff.

Andra is a WICKED tool for specialty situations. What is super crazy with Andra is the ability to shoot very shallow depth of field in a fast chase situation - running - driving - motorcycles, etc. - and always be 100% sharp. Pretty bad ass for 8K vistavision IMO.

An omodded Vistavision Weapon and Andra definitely are going to make a nice Couple, even more for moving Camera like Steady and Gimbal Work. Compact, light, Smart, Precise...nice. Can only look forward to these Shooting Days with the help of these Tools

Hey Mark, any update on your planned omod for Raven? Would love to have an idea of price and timing so we can get ready for it.

love your work btw.

Every OMOD for WEAPON is an OMOD for RAVEN. Prices and features of the initial models this month. Timing depends in the next rev of PCBs - which come out of the oven this month. But I'm pretty damn sure you will be able to have one in your hands before you can have a RAVEN :)

NOVEMBER 15TH. HIGH NOON EST - REDUSER

OMOD IMAGES.

OMOD PRICES.

OMOD FEATURES & FUNCTIONS.

OMOD SURPRISES.

info on global resellers, and all your questions answered as I'll stick around for 2-3 hours after posting to answer questions.

Okay. I have good news and bad news.

First the bad news:

I won't be posting all things OMOD, prices, specs, images, features and functionality and all that jazz tomorrow as I intended.

I need a little more time. Not a lot of time - just a little. About a week - give or take a couple days - before I can share all. But certainly less than two weeks from today.

Now for the good news:

We have some new integration partners and some surprises. We spent a ton of time after IBC reworking a system design and mechanical concept that would allow us to easily create variations of OMODs since the whole point of a modular system isn't to make "the ultimate module". Because there is no "ultimate module". What one person wants and cares about is not what another person wants and cares about.

A modular cameras system needs MANY options to realize it's potential. I'm pretty sure some of you are gonna flip out over some of the options we have for you.

I'm gonna feed Jarred some stuff ahead of spilling all the beans - and given his track record for keeping secrets .... I suspect he might share a tease or two in a couple of days :)

Almost there guys.

Anticipation thought inspired by Mark's last post: Taking modularity to the extreme - might O-Mod's be stackable?

No. Can't do it.

But.

You CAN stack an OMOD TX (wireless video transmitter) between OMOD and OMOD Battery Plate. No cables.

But don't worry. We have so many configuration options - there will be an OMOD with your name on it.

I think there is also a reality that people want to configure their camera "differently" for specific situations and jobs or technical scenarios. With enough module options - re-configuring your camera is as easy for four M4 screws.

Hard to argue with this when it's pretty much the exact configuration that I'm looking for (audio OMOD + wireless video OMOD + v-mount).

Please keep the teasers coming. ;)
