  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is Helium the next sensor after Dragon?

I'm confused by Epic-W vs. Weapon references. Epic is a body name and Weapon is a body name so Epic-W sounds like two body names together. Can someone illuminate?

I believe EPIC is just a model name for the DSMC body name. Just the same as Scarlet (DSMC) to the new Scarlet-W (DSMC2). Epic-W will be the model in between the Scarlet-W and Weapon DSMC2 models. If I caught all the references right.

Hope this helps!

Probably a bit like the SCARLET (DSMC 1 MX and D) vs the SCARLET-W...
It has been said from the beginning that WEAPON was a new high end camera in the new DSMC2 lineup : RAVEN - SCARLET-W - EPIC-W - WEAPON

Things could also get interesting in the lower end with Helium if some day a smaller 4.5 or 4K crop version is released within RAVEN territory... a 4K broadcast module and a s16 - 2/3 inch image size could go a long way in doc / TV / Live ;)
There are a lot of nice s16 lenses / b4 mount lenses

I like this idea a lot - interchangeable mounts with a b4 mount with whatever optical correction needed, a PL mount for s16/s35 lenses and 4K out would also be very important. There are a lot of shoots where S35 size is worse not better.

Yes sir... Im serious if you are serious :) Would love to see you. Sorry about the weird time.. I only have 5 minutes before I need to leave tomorrow but it's all yours if you want it.

I so love this that I think I'll complete payment and buy the (finally being allocated) Raven

You know what I learned today? That Jarred Land is a man of his word! Jarred even let me hold his "Ranger" for at least a full minute. None of this 10 seconds stuff! Everything was going fine until some dude Photo Bombed us at RED Studios Hollywood. They'll let anybody on that lot these days...sheesh!

Nice to see you man... You have the best shirt ever :)

What about the whole larger pixel vs. smaller pixel arguments? Does this apply to Helium which has a small-ish pixel (correct me if I'm wrong) compared to Dragon? Does this change the feel of the image? I know Arri is always pushing big pixels as one of the foundations of their image.

That's very cool to get the opportunity to upgrade from MX to Epic-W. Thanks a lot for this! It is realy cool from Red to upgrade all the Red cameras, there will be only the most new cameras on the market.
