  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is Helium the next sensor after Dragon?

I would be super excited for a s16 Helium version, especially with a smaller body and lower power consumption. That would be an extreme sports / doco dream camera!
 
Is Brad Pitt up in there talking about RC compression, DR, OLPFs, debayering, etc.?
I respect dudes who learn the tech stuff.

Heh heh you would be surprised., Ask Jagger... Brad was teaching him about the Ranger ... even the weight of the handles :)

We spend a lot of time together... Brad teaches me a ton and I teach him a ton. The guy is incredibly smart.

The Forged Carbon that is in the Forged Carbon Weapons... that was all Pitt.

I just had somebody ask why the "cover is so different" out here in Narnia. Forged Carbon is my favorite. It's mysterious.

I doubt it. I was assuming btw 7K and 6, much like Scarlet-W is 5K to Weapon's 6K.

When Jarred mentioned the two "flavors" of Helium, I assumed he meant two cut sizes.

To make Epic-W more affordable, Im assuming the boards are lower spec than Carbon (300mb/s for 8K). Im guessig Epic-W has 220 boards like Magnesium (which would explain the lateral move). But that also means the sensor cut size is smaller - most likely btw 7 and 6K to keep compression levels healthy.

Which also sugests Epic-W may have a narrower FOV than Magnesium (25%), as Magnesium 6K has same FOV as Helium 8K, but Helium cropped in at 7K or 6K is going to have a tighter crop on Epic-W.

Which only adds to the versatlity of the RED ecosystem. You want a larger sensor? Shoot Dragon. You want stunning clean imagery, DR and lowlight? Shoot Helium.

Its WIN/WIN time at RED right now.

Sorry about that, I can't even understand myself sometimes.

What I meant with the price is to include the price of "both steps" - weapon body upgrade + new sensor - to us, but don't put us out of all the possible upgrade paths. I hope this makes sense!

Wow. Ha. So cool. I'm happy for you (and a bit jealous at the same time). You got to hold the Ranger (and probably get some specs), meet Jarred and Brad, and check out the inside of the mysterious Willy Wonka factory. I'd trade some time with my Stormtrooper for a day like that!
