  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC-2, The Weapon, The Scarlet-W and the Raven and the improvements that they bring.

Are the M3 threads outputting the same thing on all cameras across the line?

Can anyone shed some light where are the scratch mics on the Raven?
 
I gotta say that after just holding a 6k weapon in my hands last week you could feel a big change in the form factor and everything about the body design was/is just smarter. It's like all the little things, small but important things, got sorted out from the DSMC 1 design.

Theres a a lot in the new machine and all of these new options give folks a lot of interesting choices.

dnxHD in camera soon eh? That's gonna make a bunch of people happy. :)

Anything for you my friend. Here is the 6K Epic OLPF vs the 8K Weapon OLPF so you can see not only the size difference but the difference between mechanicals.

same exact spot as on other DSMC2 brains... if you zoom on the family pict you can see them on the Raven too

Yes this would be huge...the question is: would you have the 4K version? Or just 1080? We're already working away on the new DNxIO along with the new beta (no I can't say anything more) and being able to go right into the system with a 4K proxy would be pretty fucking amazing.

It's been a bumpy road for DNxHD and a long wait for Avid to come up with DNxHR. They are here now though and are nice codecs. Here's a nice white paper:

Like I say DNxHR SQ or HQ in 4K would be insane...hell I'd be happy with even UHD. Being able to have true 4K out straight from Media Composer would be deadly. Already we have at our post facility to play out 4K dailies projected on a 30 ft screen but for now there's the long transcode.
