  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Upgrade Paths

I'm hoping someone can help me understand something. I'm either not seeing some spec I should, or one aspect doesn't make any sense to me....

As a shooter coming from the RED EPIC DRAGON camera, I understand the difference in (and upgrading to) the RED EPIC 8K camera vs. the RED WEAPON 8K. That's clear.

But why on earth would someone pay the same upgrade price as the Red Weapon 8K and choose the 6K Weapon option?

What am I not understanding?

The upgrade path to CF-Weapon with the accessory package is no longer available to Epic Dragon owners. The time for that deal has now passed if you didn't get into it before today. If you already have a deposit down for it then it will still be honored, but as of today you now have a million other awesome options. Cheers.

I could imagine some entity buying the 6K Weapon Dragons, Like a TV production.. they are still in full use now out there in the world. Peter Jackson had like 50 Red Dragons when he shot the Hobbit
..
 
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone at RED. I dont think another company exists that provides such incredible customer service and options - Its out of this world. Looking forward to hearing back from my rep and making the upgrade.

Haven't had a chance to go through the 27 pages of this thread but let me say this one thing...

So I have unexpectedly found myself in a position which was unimaginable years ago but in my heart I feel I was supposed to finally be in this exact moment. There were about 9 years where I completely left the production world and the camera business. I came back to it and purchased my Scarlet-MX and MY world changed. I can tell you one thing. I just spent 3 days on a job with my Magnesium Weapon and I think RED has finally reached this point where whether you are Helium or Dragon sensor owner you are clearly miles ahead of everyone else. I want to upgrade my Magnesium but I may just stretch myself to get a Helium in addition and then eventually upgrade the Dragon sensor in the future. If you are a current RED shooter.... you are winning either way. In a very short time I have become very attached to the camera I have in my hands. It's going to be incredibly hard for me to ship it in for an upgrade... so let me explore those financing options! Thank you to the company that never disappoints and always over delivers.
 
I am working with my bomb squad rep to upgrade from scarlet-w to epic-w, and decided to chase down the 0% 12 month financing option and notified my rep of it.
I put in my application with the financing company a few hours ago, and just now my card that I used for my scarlet-w deposit was just ran for the full price of the red upgrade ($19500).
Has this happened to anyone else?
Just wondering if this is to placeholder for my camera, or if it was a mistake?

If you are sending in WEAPON Mg for upgrade to WEAPON HELIUM, you don’t get a mount and SIDEKICK. Please see upgrade FAQs: https://support.red.com/hc/en-us/articles/227887027-RED-Owner-Pricing-WEAPON-Magnesium-6K

Hi Brent,

I'm really hoping an order placed this am can still be eligible for an epic w path.

I've been away for a month shooting (on an epic dragon) and it took me until this am to confirm the deposit with my business partners.
Totally my mistake, but not having followed the thread I wasn't up to date on everything until today.

Got the order in at 7am.
