  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Update......

So I e put down my deposit on magnesium. I want to use my $5k credit on the new evf. Can I just pay for everything now even before its my upgrade time, and if I do so, can I get the viewfinder before the cam if it's available before my upgrade time?

The AKS credit was a NAB thing that was stated to end at NAB but since that roll out of information at NAB was a clusterfuck ( my fault ) we've kinda just let it live on till everyone got their heads around it. But anyways... yes that deal is over, it needs to be because as much as we love you all we do need to actually make money to keep the lights on.

That said, I am rather useless at following rules so I will empower our bomb squad reps to make a call on you stragglers out there that still want to jump in .... but I am going to leave that to your sweet-talking skills between you and your rep.

So get out the flowers, the chocolates and the romantic music, call or email your bombsquad rep and pour on the sugar. Do it quick though... Every day you wait though its going to be a harder and harder sell till we get to December 1st when the reps just wont be able to enter that credit into the system.

Lots to be thankful for today, but having the best customers in the world is near the top of that list.

We are the underdogs.. Our passion and dedication to making the best cameras in the world just barely camouflages our dysfunction and abnormalities and the fact that you guys continue to stand by us as we navigate through this journey together means the world to us. So thank you.

P.S.. Seriously if you do convince your bombsquad to do this you gotta at least send them flowers, those guys and girls work hard and they really do give a shit about all of you.. this isn't just a job to anyone that works at RED.

I guess I learned first hand about why people had problems with the name "Weapon" before, since my bank payment has been halted due to the name "Weapon" in the order description. I was told by Red UK that they will handle it without my order being affected, but I would seriously suggest to drop the military naming for upcoming cameras and sensors. Seriously, the bank flagged Red UK as a military company before I said that they were a camera company.

Sending money to UK bank account that RED from the UK for any product shouldn't throw up any 'red flags'.

This contrasts with sending a payment in the US with many of the UK postcodes, or even if you use 'dangerous' words like 'Director' that the FBI & CIA put on their watch list.

The problem is that if you enter the name of the product in the description when paying this seems to happen. Earlier I thought it wasn't a problem that a camera was names "weapon", since only stupid bank people would seem to think that someone who buys weapons online would put the name in the description (retarded). But now I'm on that side of the fence, the weapon name is not good and it creates problems. Just making the front logo on the Red camera black so you can't see the "weapon" name is not enough, the names need to go, change into something else than military terms. I think this issue that I have is a serious indicator that it's a big problem. Especially in the world today where people, governments and authorities seem to be paranoid and overly afraid of everything around them.

When the Weapon camera goes on sale as a direct buy instead of upgrades this will probably be a bigger issue since more orders come in.

Jake, sorry, but credit is applied at time of final invoicing of the upgrade so cannot use credit before that.

Chris, they aren't going to change the name. It's already shipping and it's been talked about at length before. I've read a lot of your posts this week and you seem to be a tough guy to please. I'd also be careful throwing out terms like "retarded" and "stupid bank people"- you may offend someone.

Haha, no, I'm not a tough guy to please, just filled with questions and opinions, like all of us, more or less outspoken :)
I didn't mean that they should change the name, since that's an old discussion already and won't happen. What I said is that any future product, sensor etc. should drop the military associations all together, because it creates unnecessary complications. Use neutral but powerful names instead, like Dragon, which is the best name Red has come up with. It's marketable, sounds good and at the same time won't create red flags all over the world.
 
I can't believe you'd write "weapon" in the description... "Camera purchase" would of been sufficient.. Sorry but that's just retarded if you ask me ��

You mean I offend people trading weapons? Because if you read what I wrote I meant that people who trade real weapons and put "weapon" in the description of such illegal transactions are the ones being retarded. I really don't care if I offend illegal weapons dealers. :rofl:

I wrote "Red Digital Cinema Weapon". So yeah, that was a mistake believing these bank people would read an entire sentence instead of just the word "weapon". But maybe I'm more retarded than illegal weapons dealers which was what I was referring to as retarded, if that's what you mean?

Seems like people here flag "retarded" as much as "weapon" is being flagged during purchases :001_tt2:
