  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I know there's NO 8K in the Mg body.......I'm thinking I'd like 6K Weapon, period, No 8K. I just hate losing that 5K (x2) aks credit after laying down 30K (for two cameras) at NAB.
 
I think he just wants to go Mg 6K rather than all the way to CF 8K or Mg + new boards to 8K. Every person's clientele is different, and if they're going to be just as happy with Mg 6K as they would have been with CF 8K then why spend the extra coin and cut your margins? I understand that Steve didn't have a complete picture of what all the possibilities might be on 4/13/15 when he made his choice. That said, RED has to draw the line somewhere.

FWIW, if you change your mind and that means you lose your spot in the queue, that seems reasonable to me. Actions, reactions, all that...

That's exactly my situation. I'd like to get into the DSMC2 without the need to go for the 8K sensor. I'm asking for something different now then what I paid for during NAB, and as a trade off, if I lose my place in line, so be it. Although, I was there with the cash back in April when the landscape looked decidedly different.

But enough of my situation, I'm sounding like an ungrateful winer, and that's not me. I am very happy to be part of the Red community and am certainly "all in" with these truly fantastic cameras sold by an even more fantastic company. I'll survive just fine with whatever the ground rules finally turn out to be.

Oh, you want to go from 6K CF plus 8K upgrade to simply 6K Mg upgrade? Oh, that is fine. Be like you just ordered WEAPON Mg upgrade at NAB. You get credit and price drop for WEAPON Mg. But there is simply no going back once we hit delete on the special 8K pre-order price....

Have not left office yet. Kelly is not thrilled as I am supposed to be helping make pies for Thanksgiving tomorrow. But, then again, I hate peeling apples...

Was this change something that people were given notice of outside this thread? I would have loved to get the aks credit along with the new price. Unfortunately for me, I don't check every subsection of the forum every day so I missed it. Would be great to get future changes via an email notification, it definitely helps to have these types of deals!

I'm In the same boat. I was on the fence about the Mg upgrade for my Dragon but the price cut kinda tipped the scales for me a bit and I was planning on putting in my order before the end of the year. But now that the $5k credit is gone, I kinda feel like I'm back at square one and hesitant. I also didn't know the accessory credit was going away, I thought it was locked in with pre nab Dragons. What are the chances we can extend the credit offer through the end of the year? ;)

I did remember one thread some time ago saying that the aks credit wasn't forever - that it was subject to change. But like how there were lots of notifications everywhere about 'your last chance to upgrade to Dragon before NAB to get a discount on Weapon', I would have thought that we'd be extended a notification about something like this. Then again, from a business perspective, it might not have made sense for Red to do since they are essentially exchanging the aks credit for a drop in the overall price. I already asked my bomb squad rep and there's no sympathy lol. Although...the website says the deposit must be paid in full within 10 days to get the aks credit...it's not Nov 29 yet :-)
 
Any other Pre-NAB Dragon people who haven't put their deposit down want to chime in on this? Would you put your money down now that MG Weapon is $5k cheaper, if you got the $5k aks credit?

We just made this all up here so no there was no official statement or policy or email sent out... it was just a flying-by-the-seat-of-our-pants adjustment for those here who asked as much.

The AKS credit was a NAB thing that was stated to end at NAB but since that roll out of information at NAB was a clusterfuck ( my fault ) we've kinda just let it live on till everyone got their heads around it. So it was convenient to finally cap that out when we made the overall price adjustment going to aluminum bits.

But anyways... yes that deal is over, it needs to be because as much as we love you all we do need to actually make money to keep the lights on.

That said, I am rather useless at following rules so I will empower our bomb squad reps to make a call on you stragglers out there that still want to jump in .... but I am going to leave that to your sweet-talking skills between you and your rep.

So get out the flowers, the chocolates and the romantic music, call or email your bombsquad rep and pour on the sugar. Do it quick though... Every day you wait though its going to be a harder and harder sell till we get to December 1st when the reps just wont be able to enter that credit into the system.

Lots to be thankful for today, but having the best customers in the world is near the top of that list.

We are the underdogs.. Our passion and dedication to making the best cameras in the world just barely camouflages our dysfunction and abnormalities and the fact that you guys continue to stand by us as we navigate through this journey together means the world to us. So thank you.

P.S.. Seriously if you do convince your bombsquad to do this you gotta at least send them flowers, those guys and girls work hard and they really do give a shit about all of you.. this isn't just a job to anyone that works at RED.

LOL - you're in trouble (again).

Sadly, I'm in Dragon land for the near-mid-future (still a nice place to be) - I'd love to Weaponise (Brit spelling there!), but it's not possible for me at this point (cash flow). However, I'm sure the sweet talking will begin once the holiday is over for you guys and gals in the States.

What you have just done is probably open the floodgates to the UK (REDEurope) and other reps though... they'll be cursing you tomorrow!
 
@Jarred, while you're there... any word on when expander modules will ship? Our spot is up for a new Woven CF brain, but its not much use without the expanders; )

Andreas, contact your rep. If you did brain a la carte, they can arrange for shipment of accessories.
