  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Update......

Hi Brent, I think what Mark is trying to communicate is that its indeed a wonderful gesture from Red but when the receiver of the gift can't find an optimal use for the gift then the value drops (from the receiver's perspective). Just like the cost savings you guys passed along, I think it might be a little more understanding if you sample the opinions of the community regarding the Redvolt XL module, especially if its still in production phase where stock level isn't an issue yet. No matter how nice and valuable an iphone is, if you give your daughter an iphone instead of an ipad mini she wants because she wants to be able to enjoy her candy crush games better, she's never going to "fully"appreciate what you spent on the iphone even though its alot more expensive than what she wants. (Maybe my analogy sucks) but what I'm saying is that the community appreciates the free items but just feel the Redvolt XL module might be a little under utilize in the field.

(hope your browser is still open) :)

I know we cannot please everybody all the time. Especially when it comes to getting gifts for kids!

But as to stock levels, pre-orders help us determine supply chain so the ship sailed on what product mix we have based on those orders.

hahaha, your reply instantly made me think of a segment from the "Joker Blogs":

goto 1:57

Glass is never half full, nor half empty. Glass is always full. It is full of liquid of your choice and AIR. But since we don't have to pay for air (yet), we take it for granted. Sounds familiar...?

What? So that kinda cancels out no?

The short answer if you don't want to read 60 pages of this thread is that it's a better deal than what was available, but RED allowed orders placed before November 19 to still quality for the Accessory Credit to reward those who showed "good faith" as they have done numerous times in the past.

The Accessory Credit on new upgrades to MG Weapon is now not available, but the price reduction is in effect, which results in a significantly lower cost.

I didn't know the accessory credit was going away. There's usually advance warning of stuff like that. I thought it was locked in with the PreNAB Dragons.

Brent can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the phrase "accessory credit going away" is perhaps being misinterpreted. As long as you placed your order, and paid your deposit, before the cut-off date - then you have that accessory credit to spend as soon as you pay for the camera itself. AFAIK the $5K price drop is for every Mg buyer, regardless of their "status" (trade in vs new order, date of order, etc). So for anyone who threw down before the cut-off you get BOTH the $5K accessory credit AND the new, lower price! Nothing has been "taken away" without notice, except $5,000 off the price, which even RedUsers shouldn't be able to find a way to complain about - but based on this thread, who knows...

I was somewhat blindsided in that I locked in CF Weapon/ 8K Upgrade during NAB and was considering changing to Mg. only to find out that I'd loose the 5,000.00 accessory credit if I did so. Kind of a bummer........

I hear you Steve, but since RED realizes savings by pre-ordering components in accurate quantities, people changing from one type to another - CF to Mg for example - can mess up their procurement savings, so they no longer have a lowered cost basis to pass along to us. As Jim has reminded us all many times, these are very complex devices that require highly specialized parts. I think of it like the difference between ordering another case of pencils at the last minute vs customized titanium pens with your company logo in an odd length.

Hi Blair!

Better to plan ahead as you state...and NEVER get any with erasers...employee messages n'all.

Thank you very much

There is still a $2500 credit for having dragon before nab however.

everyone should wrap their head around the fact that it morphed from being $5k you HAD to spend in the red store, to $5k you can spend any way you like, like going on vacation

Would you like cash or a gift card, cash please

I think they have stated that you can change things around and keep the same timestamp. I mean you did put down a sizeable deposit that included the same credit.
