  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet 8x internal 120FPS test

What codec was this encoded with? I can't import it into 5.5 to view on my CRT :(

Will the HDRx feature be suitable for the Scarlet in more situations as opposed to the Epic since has got more stops?

Isn't Scarlet fixed equipped with the same sensor? the Mysterium-X? Should be the same amount of stops then.

when the scarlet cinema comes out used 16mm glass prices are going to shoot up fast!

The zooms will probably go up a lot, for some 16mm primes prices have already gone through the roof due to M4/3 camera enthusiasts.

Hey Jarred,
Any chance you had the opportunity to view this on your 4k projector?
If so, how did it look? Thanks.

Odd I just imported this into FCP to show my students last night on how great this tech is :)

I hoped its only because of the H.264 compression...

I'm certain that there is nothing to worry about :) but still, I'm very curious to see this in much higher resolution. I just can't wait to see some truly representative high definition reference footage off this camera (other than Felix)!

It's a completely different sensor. Same brand-name, I'm sure designed using some of the same technologies / design philosophies, but still totally different. (unlike the Red M-X and Epic sensors, which actually are the same sensor in different sizes).

interesting, I remember reading it is the MX sensor same as the RED ONE and Epic, but only smaller.

It is an MX sensor, same technology, smaller pixel pitch 3.3 micron vs 5.4 micron. But it is a unique sensor for the 2/3" model.

youtube or vimeo?

youtube or vimeo?

any youtube or vimeo link to watch the footage?
can someboy upload it?
would be apreciated...

The shot came out great Jarred! I am a huge RED fan and am grateful to have been able to help out at all, can't wait for Scarlet. The skateboard industry is definitely listening to what RED is doing, how many other cameras out there are shooting that quality of image and are small enough to run from the police with(jk)?

Scarlet will surely dominate in the extreme sports field. Good price point, small, DOF not too shallow and overcranking. Can't wait to see some snowboarding movies shot with these.
