• Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red One On a DJI Ronin?

I was wondering the same think few days ago. Maybe if you take the battery in a back pack , and using plastic lenses without mattebox... I think that the problem are the Red One dimensions:

Supported Camera Dimensions
Maximum depth at center of mass on camera base plate: 5.5" / 140 mm

Maximum height measured from top of camera base plate: 8.9" / 225 mm

Maximum width: 7.7" / 195 mm

Supported Camera Weight
Up to 16 lb / 7.3 kg

If you used a clip-on or screw-in filter, Red Mag, strip all the rigging, I think it's do-able. But obviously the size could be an issue.

Yeah....., I don't think it'll work without modifying the tray setup.

I sent an email to DJI and they said that they were working on a way to make the Ronin fit the RED One. They did not tell me when they might have this available or if it really is even possible.

Well that's awesome to hear.

I've emailed DJI to voice my support if such a modification were available. Probably won't help, but I figured it can't hurt for us Red One users to vocally support this idea.

I've seen an Easyrig hooked up to it before, that seems to do the trick.

I figured it would be cheaper getting a gym membership than an Easyrig, but the Red One still manages to kick my ass.

Well this is getting very interesting...

No, and for the price I'm holding out for a Ronin. But it's nice to see someone's getting it done. Maybe some competition will hurry DJI up. At least we know it can be done now.

EDIT: I got a response from DJI "Our Ronin works with Red One as well."

Not sure what to make of that now...

No idea. There are like 2 test videos I can find on the Gstabi H14, it does look jerkier than the Ronin, but I'd love to see more. Lot of setup videos, not a lot of test videos...

Does anyone know anyone at DJI to get a confirmation that they've solved the RED One Ronin issue??? I'd plunk my cash down right now for that, especially since I already own an EasyRig.

Danny,

Did DJi confirmed that the Ronin was tested with a Red One?.

I would love to see a some footage in the Ronin with a R1….

What I posted was their exact quote. No further details were given. I really have no idea.
