Am I the only one who thinks the photo's have been teased? Look at the start/stop button. Why is everything darkened but the square?

Are people missing the obvious bit that looks like it's a module that would go on the back of the camera? The pins don't really makes sense but there's that thick multipin port that you see between modules.

If it mates with a module adapter the edge isn't a problem.
You can also see the pins in that protruding connector port as well that the inset on the end which would mate perfectly with the port on the camera body/module. It's definitely the same type of connection 100% and not a stop or piece of plastic. Perhaps there will be a new module adapter that this would interface with.
Cool a 3 Second Blackshade button!
I'm not clear which direction you are suggesting it might mount and what these connectors would mate to. These connectors would mate to the back of the camera directly, pins to pins, female to female or would the pins on this mystery part face rear leaving the angled ports on the edge facing forward on the operator's side?

Do not understand this obsession with the dead. My goal is to set a new record for longevity so dead or death is anathema to me.
Skulls often don't represent the same meaning to everybody.
For the artist, it has been said through generations of illustrators and painters that once you've mastered drawing the skull to the point where you can do it from imagination there is nothing you can't achieve. For many this is the reason they keep a skull in their studios.
For us as a civilization we uncover the skeletal remains to learn and unlock history's story about a time long before. The skull merely provides an abyssal gaze that produces wonderment of how things might have been for keeper of that structure. Great minds or mere peasants, or perhaps that which we don't even know, it certainly creates curiosity.
For us as humans it might be a hollow visage that generates fear or even instills a deeper understanding of our own mortality.
Skulls can be considered dark subject matter, but occasionally we must explore the darkness to seek out the light.
For my own purposes, my logo is the "deconstructed" image of a painting I did about a decade and a half ago that provided a great deal of visibility early on in my career.

For Red and Red Cameras we refer to our camera bodies as the camera "brain". And given what we know about what a brain might be and potentially where it should go that certainly produces a few questions.
But the real question here is are we looking at one "thing" or several? Or pieces from a larger puzzle? And there's certainly more to the silhouettes and shapes than meets the eye.
It's the RED Apocalypse button. Fortunately, the engineers had the foresight to add "stop" functionality.
I think all of these teaser photos are of different things.
So now I think we will have to wait for NAB for all the goodies to be unveiled. #dammitall.
Just going by the "bulky port" the only way it would fit would be onto the back of the camera body or another module.
*I think people are also making the assumption that the "leaked" images are of the same product. I do not believe this is the case.

Maybe this replaces the Motion mount .....
A global shutter that can work at at much higher frame rate perhaps ...
The back of which has an extra pin to keep Goldilocks happy?
