  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OFFHOLLYWOOD HOTLINK + HOT TAP + HOTBOX R/S WIFI for RED DSMC cameras

Everyone with a drone or a Ronin or Movi the Hotlink is a must have.. Full wireless control ( including Canon/Nikon lenses ) and they were smart to put a mini USB power input on it as well to tie in with onboard power most of those systems have.

yeah ill come talk to you guys about the drones at IBC. has it been tested? no interference? how can you power it if you dont have any battery mount on the camera (powering camera form LIPO)

Mark before I use the store, will you have any units for sale at IBC - just wondering if I can grab one then?

Cheers

You can only buy through the web store. I will have units of all three products to show it IBC in the RED Booth.

With respect to HOTLINKs - we are paying a premium to expedite the initial batch of the custom PCB board in the HOTLINKs to get product shipped and out there as fast as possible. Those will start shipping week of October 6th. There will be a delay of a "a few weeks" between the initial production run with expedited boards and the next production run.

You need to get your orders in BEFORE end of the day Friday of this week if you want to make sure you be included in the initial production run. That said - we will of course move as fast as we possibly can if you order after Friday.

Just ordered! This with foolcontrol is going to be an incredible tool!!!

Just ordered…thanks Mark, this looks awesome! Can't wait to get it going with Foolcontrol IOS...

So excuse the dumb question but how does this compare to the RedLink module? Smaller, more flexible mounting options?

Apparently RED fixed the Redmote connection in the Dragon cameras.
What's the advantage of this redundant system?

Now, if someone could make a knob for the Iphone, so we can use it as a true wireless focus pulling device.....

"Hint Hint"

:tongue_smilie:

im working on it. But it is just diy kind of stuff which includes the need of a 3d printer. When it is done i will be sharing the results and give away the project files if anyone is interested in it.

It allows you to work with an iOS, android device, or PC/Mac via a wifi router.

that's just the tip of the iceberg. Convenient, distributed, relatively secure remote camera control and synchronization. Inboard motor control of SLR lenses, something I remember you being a proponent of for several years now (ahead of your time I guess)

only limit is one's imagination I guess.

what I found most interesting is that it uses the serial connection instead of the Gig-E leaving me to speculate there may be a future for high speed data transfer over that interface. A very powerful ability if true.

if I were a complainer I would ask why no dual band 2.4/5ghz wifi? But I'm not a complainer haha.

You are not that familiar with the Redmote than haha

You are a clever man Dan - and yeah - we got stuff in the works with the Gig-E port :)

Took minimum 2 years between the moment I bought the lemo to GIG-E cable and the moment I dusted it off to write foolcontrol...
And it looks like every single pin and port on the DSMC is there for a very good reason, including the top fan pins and the 'GIG' in GIG-E...

Now it makes me wonder about those contacts under the side handle...

My guess, those are to connect to the Bottom handle that was shown on 3D imagery of the epic early on. So possibly power connectors and red / record button connectors...

Ummmm, not on mine...I can't stay connected with the Redmote in real world working situations....clean line of sight with the Dragon on a 30ft crane...once I'm past 10 ft or so Redmote disconnects.

I haven't tried on the latest Release Firmware though...just made the switch a couple days ago. Hopefully it is better.
