  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- DSMC FAN 2.0 Upgrade Kit

This fan has been on my mind a good deal since NAB. I'll be getting the DSMC Fan 2.0 when my upgrade to Dragon is ready. I'll do what I can to find out some info or test the db between the stock and new fan system.

I figure it's a win win for me. I'm outdoors shooting a good chunk, and if it's anything like the last year, a good amount of deserts. I'm also curious to see the impact on dialogue recording for narrative work.
 
not sure if it fits the VF or any other Top plate. the RED top plate though needs a small adjustment .. you can send it back to RED and we will do it no charge.

Guess the Tactical Top Plate has to be sent to the US, or can it be "adjusted" or taken care of in Europe too ?
Also, can we send in the plate(s) before receiving the new fans (ordered) ?
 
Hey jarred what is clearance depth on the new bottom fan. Really wanna plunk the money down but gotta see if it will work with my vf bottom plate and 15mm adapter... Does it work with the red quick release/15mm lws?

Will every new tactical plate sold on red.com store be compatible with the fan 2.0?
 
I'd be curious if the sound of the new fan still relatively affects the sound frequency being recorded. Currently, there is a very low frequency tone (not the sound of the fan itself) when you turn up your sound during recording. It changes tone when the fan gets faster (it's becomes a higher pitch) and It's very low but noticeable in the recording. Not sure if this affects all Scarlet or Epic but it does for many. Wondering if it is improved with the new fan setup.
 
Has it been confirmed which fan we need to buy? Really want the new fan ASAP, but won't be able to upgrade to dragon for a while. Do I get the Dragon one? or the Epic one?

Not sure if RED would be willing to send out the one with the Dragon Icon to those that have signed up for the Upgrade before the Dragon upgrade itself is done, that wile be the right question to ask.

I for one was hoping fro Dragon before the fan will ship!
 
How will this affect smaller stills lenses? Looks to stick out from the camera. hate to muck up a follow focus ability.
 
Can we at least get the measurements so we can figure out if it will fit? I really wanna put the money down on this upgrade asap.

Dear Jarred, also curious about the ET top plate, will this have clearance for the top fan or a no-go as well?

+1 on this question. Can we send existing plates to RED Europe or Germany?
And is there a chance for a grey version with Dragon Logo for Scarlets? :)
 
Still no word on the measurement of how far out the fan sticks?
