  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- DSMC FAN 2.0 Upgrade Kit

Adaptive quiet record set to 70c is the best setting for me.

If any one wants to sell his ORIGINAL bottom fan please PM me. Low hours preferred.

Pat

Thanks Phil...im going back to adaptive set at 70. Like I said I thought someone said something about the camera was set to adaptive and they let the camera run and it didn't cool down fast enough or something like that. I want to shoot this summer for the first time with my Epic and I don't want to be worried about too many things.

Once again, set it to : adaptive quiet record 70, and you ll have the best of both worlds. A cooled down camera during stby and a quiet camera while recording.

LoL

The way to do it is to buy the new bottom fan, then send the camera in with it and after the Dragon upgrade is made put the ORIGINAL fan back into it...

Pat

Why not just take the fan out before you send the camera out for the update. ; )

It looks like RED gives you a new fan and send back the old one.
It also looks like they change the top fan connector. But they send it back without cover as the new top fan is connected.

Please ask your bomb squad rep. for more details.

Hi guys. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? My top fan undulates on a regular 4 second cycle, producing a very audible up / down noise. It does this at the lowest levels, on quite mode, adaptive mode, and every other mode. Here is an audio recording:

Does anyone else have this same problem? Any advice? My top fan has always been like this, so I thought it was normal.

Hey Alex,

I don't think your fan sounds normal. I have the new top and lower fans and the latest software but I don't ever remember a revving up and down noise. If you want, more then happy to meet up and compare.

Thanks Will and Bob. Go team Toronto! I will contact my bomb squad rep and inquire.

Bob I just replied to your question in the Xenon thread. Oh, and congrats on Siddharth! Looking forward to seeing it.

It hears more like a Firmware/heat sensor problem... ? -> Bombsquad!

what about RED tactical top plate? wondering if RED offers free mod for those who have red top plate
Hi Kemalettin yes RED do offer a free mod for those who have a red top plate. Just send your cameras in to red with the top mount attached.

agreed. I just upgraded to the new beta firmware and the fan has gone stupid. Same issue. RED, please take note of this! its quite annoying actually.

See if anyone is still around. I just installed the 2.0 kit on the Epic and the top fans don't seem to spin ever. I'm honestly not sure if they should but at 80% I'm assuming they would right?

Can't seem to find any examples of the top fan in operation.
