Thanks for the audio track Patrick:
+) The bearing sound of the FanPlate has a higher pitch grind sounds / louder than the bearing sound of the Red Orignal fan
+) There sound of the air going over the blades seems quieter (and slightly lower frequency) for the new Red Fan compared to the Red Original fan in Adaptive mode
+) There is a strange electronic sound on your camera with the new Red Fan - almost like an amplifier is struggling with an inductive load. Glad that Red have suggested an send-in investigation for you.

Yes the FanPlate adds noise but at a real life recording scenario it becomes much quieter as when only used the RED's fan. The adaptive mode lowers the Red fan below 25% (my estimate 15-20%) so it gets extremely quiet for 1 or 2 minutes until the camera gets to the 70° max temp. Then the Red's fan get much louder.
To compare things in shooting condition you can see the 4 last clips starting at 1'16.
This sound recorder preamp was pushed to the max and then +15dB added in FCP so there are some noise we usually don't hear. But I'll send my new Red bottom fan in to have a check.
See you Antony,
Patrick
