  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Appreciation...

And, Jim, for the love of something, don't give up the cigars.

Patience is always rewarded you with your quality.
It is a pleasure to be part of the revolution.
I appreciate your willpower, thanks RED TEAM.

Shoot on RED ;)

We really appreciate our customers (friends) support...
You put up with a lot.
We are usually late.
You have to defend your purchase with "those that don't get it".
Cigar smoke when you visit.
You have to live with our (my mostly) embarrassing posts.
Did I mention "late"?
Never finished program. The time to make upgrades would kill the faint of heart.
Endure trash talk from industry "experts".
We would not exist without you. We appreciate your patience, your contribution (we actually listen), your passionate support.
You are RED. Without you we don't mean dick. (Does this now qualify as an embarrassing post?) The Sony guys don't say this stuff...
Jim
I'm thankful for my EPIC-M approval Jim, I finalized the purchased, wired the funds and everything else on my end, I'm just waiting for my camera to ship. Can't wait to play with my new badass EPIC-M camera.

This thread will stay... I want our competition to know they are up against "not normal". You ever (almost) get in a fight with a guy who's veins in his neck stand up and you go... uh, oh? That's us. :-)

Jim

We need more of this. There's too many filmmaking forums where people are terrified to speak up and be real. I say, fuck 'em and let your freak flag fly.

heh heh heh love it...

Re: The Cigar.

I couldn't help but think of this apropos quote from Atlas Shrugged regarding burning fire at the fingertips...

"I like cigarettes (read cigars). . . . I like to think of fire held in a man‘s hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind--and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his own expression."
-- Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged, 1957)

Fitting. Perhaps even more considering that over fifty years later the film of this book was just finished - on RED.

Keep the fire burning,

Max

When it comes to cringe makingly embarrising posts you are an absolute rank amateur.

The number of times I thought, you know I should really go back a delete all my posts in a thread, but thought maybe that’s not fair to the people that replied to my idiocy!

I think honestly the world is different place now. When other companies ask for our business model its clear that they don’t realize that things are very different now. People still think in terms of board of directors, company stock, going public, company sold, second generation company then hell bent on mindless and unsustainable growth for shareholders whether it makes sense or not, so on and so forth. The future belongs to lean and mean innovators; the sooner people realize that the better the chances are of a recovery. Without innovation we are all pretty much screwed.

So yes the “not normal” and veins standing up in your neck. That’s REAL old school…but frankly what is needed right now.

Cheers,

Eric

All gushy feelings aside. If Red keeps upping the game and delivering cameras like the Epic and beyond, they have nothing to worry about. I for one couldn't be more thrilled with the Epic and its performance. In the last 2 months I have shot 10 projects on it (and only one Alexa job, begrudgingly...).

Keep it up Jim and team!

I consider myself one of the silent majority. Quietly and confidently waiting. Jim, try to avoid letting the veins in your neck stand up. Not good for people of our age bracket :).

Carry on.

Just drove down to Lake Forest this morning to pick up my new Epic M, so I am feeling extremely appreciative myself. Then I got a call later today from my cute & tiny new bomb squad rep to tell me I was also getting the previously unavailable side handle and redmote. Maybe tomorrow she'll tell me the Pro EVF is one the way. :-) Thank you Jim and the Red team!

It has been a pleasure sporting your genius, from my first Factory Pilots. I have been a fan for a long time, from my days of coaching Pat Mac and Seth, to now, where I plan to be arming myself with a Scarlet and ruling the sidelines of youth soccer. You have built an amazing community of passionate professionals who are willing to share at an unheard of level.

The best part of Red Cinema Camera isn't the camera or the software. It's Jim Jannard. It's creator.

And the privledge this site has provided to make us all better filmmakers.

When you lay it on the line with your 'embarrassing remarks' you are giving us the truth...... which we starve for in this pathological corporate whitewash bullshit era that treats us as children.

Thanks for treating us as adults.
