Here's a wild question "some studio folks" asked me yesterday.

If you are upgrading to or purchasing a new brain is it possible to have the brain ship with the new fans installed?

The mouse wants to know.

Im really wanting to pull the trigger on two of these kits but would love to hear from people that have them installed if its a big difference and worth the 2k its gonna cost.

Also, is there a difference on the bottom fan between Epic and Dragon cameras? So If I buy the fan now for my Epic do I have to buy a new one when I upgrade to Dragon?

After some digging I found the answer to this, so now Id just love to hear from someone who has it installed to see if its a big difference.

This was answered by RED already - you buy now the respective fan for Epic or Scarlet. When you send in your camera for Dragon update they will swap the coin logo on the front of the fan as a part of the upgrade...

There is a obvious reason why RED would not want cameras out in the wild with an official Dragon logo when they are actually not Dragonized. I highly doubt they would ship the Dragon kit unless you have a Dragon camera - which is why this option is there in the store - for when the Dragon cameras start shipping. You should contact your BOMB SQUAD rep and change the order to the respective Epic / Scarlet if you want to get it now...

No official answer but fans 2.0 install guide says RED can install your fans if needed on your camera if you send / drop it... so I see no reason why it could't be installed at RED when upgrading or buying new camera... But the fans will remain a paid upgrade for now and won't be pre-installed by default on any new MX or Dragon cameras.

Coolio. I wouldn't expect it to be anything other than a paid upgrade as it's an optional accessory/upgrade. Just curious if it could be shipped out ready to go with the DSMC Fan 2.0.

I placed my order last week; not shipped yet. I suspect that shipping didn´t start yet, based in not a single report on the new fan´s operation... Well, probably a slight production delay, mixed with a decision of keeping the official date of release (last day of May?)... no problem...

They have shipped. But I'm also interested to hear some heat tests from usuers. I think they will pop up in the next weeks.

Mine would have shipped a few weeks ago, but I ordered the dragon badged one, and that was the hold up. Changed it to the epic badged one and now it should ship this week I hope.
