Didnt Jim announce that all Canon mounts were going to be Titanium?

I am confused about the early "M" proto machined Canon titanium vs later production ones. Are they all going to be $2k apiece? Is there any difference at this point?

Tilt-Shift + Epic... wow, the possibilites there! I wonder how that new 8-15mm will play?

The canon 8-15L is a full frame lens so will work fine on epic, probably not a full circle on 5k - similar to what happens on an aps-c or APS-h sensor.

yes the first ones available will be titanium based.

I think your getting the two mounts mixed up. There is no Aluminum PL mount. Only Titanium PL mounts. Canon mounts will be Titanium to begin for all M and X customers. $2000 each. There may or may not be aluminum canon/nikon mounts down the road. Titanium is so much better in so many ways.. The only downside is that titanium is a lot more expensive than Aluminum... but well worth the price.

There may or may not be aluminum canon/nikon mounts down the road. Titanium is so much better in so many ways.. The only downside is that titanium is a lot more expensive than Aluminum... but well worth the price.

would be awesome for a setup as small and light as possible to not have to use an additional module, or swap the sweet RED PRO Touchscreen for an hdmi /sdi based additional onboard monitor like smallhd or similar.

how would an extra port in the side ssd module sound instead of where the record button is?

The RED EPIC shooting Full Frame 5K has a horizontal crop factor of approximately 1.3x compared to a 36x24mm Full-Frame 35mm photography camera.

This crop factor exists because of the sensor size, not the lens mount used. So PL-mount, Nikon mount, Canon mount; it doesn't matter. The crop factor remains the same so long as the comparative format (FF35) remains the same.

If you change the shooting format of the camera - down to 3K, for example - the crop factor will change because the sensor is windowed at that resolution, not down-sampled in camera.

That means 24x36mm can be considered as a Leica full frame (film/digital) format.

Canon mount it cool, but I'm waiting for EPIC-X!!! I have been using the RPZ 17-50 on 9 of 10 jobes lately. I really love that lens as much as my Canon 24-70. Crazy scarp lens.
