  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Laforet + EPIC + Canon Mount + 600mm

I was posing yes for that one shot - caught me. But I did use both - but never at the same time. Almost 100% use of the Bomb btw Jason - so I think you missed that one. There is touch to focus on the LCD... so I had both of them mounted. Until the modules come out - you can only use one at a time. But you can hot swap them and that works some of the time w/o reboot - and RED is working on making that more solid.

But you can use Bomb EVF + HD-SDI monitor right? I think so, that's why I just got the TV Logic 5.6", for that exact setup.

C'a vaut le coup the rever! Definitely worth dreaming for! The IS is superb!
J'espère faire du documentaire animalier. Ces images sont celles dont je rêve. Vous devez être l'opérateur le plus heureux sur cette terre.

I hope to do wildlife documentaries. I'm dreaming to shoot that kind of pictures. You must be the happiest operator on earth.

This is great news, to see that RED is field-testing these - very exciting, can't wait to get my hands on one of these. Been waiting patiently for years to get my Canon glass mounted to a RED camera...!

They will be shot in Florence, and near by Bitches in Tuscany, we'll use mainly the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 II and the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II, but also really love the EF 400mm f/2.8 IS II.

Hmmm, I doubt that I would be calling them that.....good luck

I menat "BEACHES" after google I spell it right ;)

This kind:

In Castiglioncello, Tuscany... ;)

It's a new piece yet to be released from a 3rd party. When they're ready they'll let you know...
3rd Party? So, is this different from what RED has been referring to as their Canon mount, or the same?

Vince is talking about the rear battery mount, not the front canon mount. His rear battery mount is not a RED product.

if you want one of those mounts tested with either the 200mm 1.8 (only the best lens EVER!!) or a Sigmonster 300-800mm lens - both not very common, and I wonder if the apertures will respond to the electronic iris - you could send me one of those bad boys....

although Jim probably has every lens ever invented...

just sayin'

heh heh we already have it.. but thanks.

Will there be titanium Canon/Nikon mounts? The temperature-expansion properties make it desirable even if these can handle the big beasts with no problem.

yes the first ones available will be titanium based.

... And the new EF 400mm f/2.8 IS II is an absurdly fantastic lens, can't wait to play with it on EPIC!!

No kidding! It is going to be absolutely amazing, as will the new 500 and 600 when they arrive. We have waited long enough for these new lenses! However they are not cheap!
