  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HyperChargeBattery

Yes still Lithium. But think about the advantage of fast charging, you only need two for traveling. Get off the plane and 20min later you are ready to shoot:-)!

20min charging time for all units or the smallest, 45wh?
And with empty battery you mean discharged to approx. 20%?

All units up to 130Wh will charge in 20 min. The smallest needs 20 min as well (we can't put more amp into the cells to charge). The Cells can be discharged nearly to ZERO Volt / Cell - so empty means EMPTY and Full 100% means FULL, no tricks here;-)

WOW, this figures surpasses LiPo territory. Amazing. How about costs and weight of units? Anything you can share already?

260Wh on WEAPON with BT Module and other

Is there a reason why the 260wh has this futuristic shape? Maybe it is just me but it looks bulky and ugly. Prefer the classical square look.
And with such fast charging time of 20min, who really needs 240Wh?

I like that look, reminds me a lot of the arri 235. So with the BigV mount, there'll be no worries about pushing the battery off when i rest that gap part on my shoulder?

Does the Hyper Charger charge regular v-mount batteries?

I read up on the BT rig on Newshooter, but do you have any more info about it? Connector types? Is the top plate a dovetail?

All the HyperChargeBatteries are designed round the "Classical" Film Mag look and feel - this is what it is about. The evolution of Film cameras was nearly complete and perfect. Ergonomics were just right. Then came digital cameras, crippled ergonomics and just no "style". HyperChargeBatteries make a camera, well a camera again;-)

Hmm, still not sure I understand.
You are not saying the round shape of the battery is meant to be used as sort of shoulder pad (like the Arriflex 235 which some people refer the form factor to), do you?
I mean, normally you still have your shoulder rig. The weight of the battery and the distance to inertia is how you counter balance depending on how front heavy (lens size) your setup is.

Also, the ShoulderMag 260Wh is just for that, the operators who WANT and NEED a large Battery to create perfect shoulder balance. And if big or small, fast charging is always a step ahead.

I always dreamt about superfast charging Lithium Vmount batteries like LiPo when I am not using drone/gimbal.
Now, it looks like we even have a better option. Fantastic.

From my experiences, I've used various handheld rigs and currently own the Mantis. None of them came remotely close to the way the 235 sat on your shoulder.

The camera hugs right against you and there are less parts to deal with. But yeah, you'd typical be on Prime lenses when using this sort of setup, a front heavy zoom will alter the balance.

FWIW, I have found proper balance far more important than total weight (within reason) for long hand held days. I'm also attracted to the ability to go quickly from sticks to shoulder for a few shots without having to re-rig. Looking forward to trying it out this week at NAB.

Cheers - #19

I love where this is going. Finally, something radical and different.

amazing battery tech and 'shoulder mount' 260 Wh with top plate looks slick but what about the airflow of the top and bottom fans.... ?

I was gonna ask the same question.

But it looks like the BT module covers the exhaust vent entirely, so I'm assuming the flow is directed elsewhere. That said, the top fans are also covered by a plate so who knows.

Hopefully when you're operating it isn't just cooking your shoulder :)

Looks really cool. Would be a fantastic tool and could really change things up. Excited to see testing and reviews!

Projected life span? We know with current battery tech that it is not just the number of cycles but the amount of time in service after manufacture.

Sizing, are these similar in width and length to the classic Anton Bauers? Think Dionic series. This is key for some cameras and people on Steadicam, as you know.

Also, flight restrictions. Will these be have air travel restrictions beyond the batteries approved so far?
