  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FEB Update / IPP2 Preview 2

I posted this on the EPIC-W users, but since it's a closed group, I thought I'd share here.

An afternoon with iPP2 prev. 2
Nothing else used to grade; this to show the different color foundations in the different contrast levels and rolloffs. As always, awesome work Graeme, I loved the more "adventurous" rolloffs.

All run and gun. Most of the shots here are 6K 2:1 85fps 13:1

Thanks Graeme! It was just a quick run and gun test, but I couldn't wait to try your latest magic sauce. I'm loving the contrast and rolloff options, subtle but man do they make a difference.

I switched on the downloads so everyone has access to a less compressed file.

Just updated the firmware on my Scarlet-W. I now have RWG and Log3G10 in camera. A few questions.

In settings, look, video, I change my color space to REDwidegammutRGB and my graded gamma space to Log3G10. Should I keep my video source at graded? Or change that to Log3G10? Then can I put the low, medium, high contrast luts in camera? Put them on my card and go to video, luts and add them in for preview? Trying to figure out the dragon workflow. Thanks.

I see everyone else preferring "Medium Contrast__Rolloff 4", Does anybody else like "High Contrast__Rolloff 4"?

Hi Rand,

Yes I really like the high contrast one - used it on the weekend. It's really great with low con lenses like my Lomo's & Canon FD SSC's. So much DR in this new Log3G310.

Will attach some pics at some point.

Cheers

Craig,

I would love to see how the lomo and canon lenses looked with the high contrast - Rolloff 4 lut, and thanks for whenever you post those pics.

Whats the difference between Log3G310 and Log3G312? What is the use case for each?

The number of stops above middle grey that the log curve is designed to encode. Graeme said 12 made too flat an image to work with so it's deprecated in favor of Log3G10.

Quick question: Was shooting RWG+L3G10 (plus one of Graeme's new LUTs) and offloaded. Looked at both RedCine-X (latest) and Premiere (latest) and both are showing DC2, RG4 for the "as shot". Is this standard for everyone at the moment?

To be clear I can go through clip by clip and select RWG+L3G10, but it says "As Shot" as DC2, RG4.

Correct, this is just "how things are" until everything is finalized.

Remember everything you are seeing is a "preview" until the camera firmware, REDCINE-X Pro, and the SDK are hammered down to the floor.

I really like High Contrast - Rolloff 4 for shots with ample exposure.

It's so fun to experiment with the different Rolloffs! Thanks Graeme :)
