  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FEB Update / IPP2 Preview 2

Ok so I'm a bit confused here, I'm currently using an Epic - X Dragon 6k for a job. (Firmware 6.3.102)

Monitoring in camera DC2/RG4.

I've loaded an R3D off the camera into the latest version of Red cine-x and applied the Medium contrast (output tone map) with Very soft (highlight roll off) IPP2 settings.

I really like this look and would like to be able to work with this in camera.

However none of these presets seem to be available in camera as shown on the first page of this thread.

Is this possible with this body? Reading through this thread I can see mixed posts saying that IPP2 can and can not be used to monitor in camera with the Epic dragon.

Can anyone make sense of this? I understand that the new Helium cameras will have the IPP2 monitoring accessible directly from the menu, but for now am I missing something? Do I need to load the IPP2 presets from somewhere? Or a LUT / look?

Or should I just continue working in DC2/RG4 with this camera?

Thanks.

Pete.

Helium cameras do it in-camera.

Everone else either set rwg/log310 and view one of the IPP2 luts or just do it in post.

That's the impression I got from reading this thread.

However the are no looks or camera presets available in the cameras menu?

Do I need to download and load them in seperately from somewhere?

Should they be included with firmware 6.3.102 already?

The camera came from the rental house with firmware 6.3.102 already installed, in wondering if I have to specialflly install the firmware 6.3.102 from the first post in this thread instead?

Where can I get the final LUT from RED for the ipp2 for redcineX?

You don't need the LUTs in RCX (Beta) for IPP2, it is all done mathematically. This is what the tone map and highlight roll-off options are for in the output section of RCX-P. The LUTs are for apps that don't support IPP2 yet, which is all 3rd party software, and for non-Helium cameras.

Only Helium camera's support IPP2 in camera. For all others, you apply IPP2 in post.

You can load one of the IPP2 LUTs onto the camera and then get an IPP2 like view. I am not sure what this does with monitoring tools though. You load the LUT onto a mini-mag and then insert into the camera and import the LUT. It does need to go in the proper folder for the camera to see it.
