  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FEB Update / IPP2 Preview 2

Thanks for "failing," guys. If you can't get your sensor yields high enough to meet demand for your camera, you're pushing sensor technology the amount every new camera should push it. There's a reason Red is flooded with orders while sales of the Canon/Nikon [same camera as their first DSLRs 17 years ago, plus a few megapixels and slightly faster autofocus] v20 keep getting worse and worse. And the astonishing thing is that they seem to have *completely no idea* what that reason is.
 
I'm confused, If IPP2 isn't supported in non-Helium cameras, how come I have RWGRGB/LG310 in my Scarlet-w after the firmware update?

IPP2 Preview is what's not supported in camera. You can't preview the LUT, which in turn, gives you the REC709 output of the new processing pipeline.

I load the LUT on a SmallHD 702 and it looks great.
 
Thanks Alex and Rakesh, Must have missed that bit. Using Johns 17x Red to Alexa Lut in camera, looks great. Just have to be careful with the histogram. :)

We preordered some Tilta RED rigs as demo units for our store back in September. According to Yang at Tilta, they should ship by the end of the month or in early March. I do hope to get some more info soon.

For in-camera there's instructions included with the firmware on how to use the ready made presets.

For post it's remarkably simple - do raw development to RWG/Log3G10 and apply one of the output transform LUT cubes from: https://red.cachefly.net/IPP2_Preview/IPP2_Preview_Cubes.zip - grade the RWG/Log3G10 data and view/render through the output transform LUT. And yes, there will be more documentation. Start with: https://www.red.com/downloads/585358faf01b3062ab0009f8 for RWG/Log3G10 specifications and as we finalize on GUI and operation of IPP2 there'll be more in the way of practical use details coming.

For us that are RED EPIC-W BRAIN WITH HELIUM 8K S35 SENSOR (WEAPON MG 6K OWNER) - WMG6K-TO-EPIC-W-TRADE-IN - STANDARD when do you think we should be expecting?

Is this happening as we speak??? or waiting for something?

Hello Graeme. I have a Weapon MG with latest firmware. Started doing a test. I downloaded latest REDLINE X and I imported the IPP2 from your link. I did it in 3D Out tab and it seems everything fine. But the Red Gamma Curve and Space I do not see the 3glog. I do see the Rec2020. While in Davinci, I see all the options available.

Am I missing a step or something? I also downloaded a 8K clip from the forum to make sure it was not because it was an MG clip versus Helium and got same results. Cant find that.

Hi David!

Have you tried the TILTA module with XLR's?
If so, how's the audio? And do you have any audio control on the module itself?

I paid a deposit for a Raven in December 2015, so over 13 months ago.
Could I please have a rough estimate as to how long before the camera is likely to be shipped?

Does the sigma art 18-35 work again? (On foolcontrol, red THC x redlink, RTMotion latitude)
It doesn't work on epic, raven and weapon cf since version 6xxx.
We r using it with gimbal and jibs and the ef controlled focus get stuck on infinite.

Hi Brent,
Just to be sure. I upgraded last month to Scarlet W from Raven with a time stamp of mid January 2016. Are we still taking Spring?
