  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FEB Update / IPP2 Preview 2

Yes, trying to make the menu system simple and self-explanitory so that it's easy to use and not confuse people.

Do i understand this well, that the camera inside color together with the in camera or out of camera Lut wil also be in the Prores or Avid and output . This is very welcome for fast run and gun work, and clients who have less understanding from luts and colourgrading. And it is very easy for looking at playback on the set and daily's.

Thanks Graeme... That's a time saver to have a simple path to tweak and change presets, IPP2's etc next to the client. :)

So far while I wait for my Helium upgrade, My MG is badass with the new RedWide + 3gLog10 setup.... Loving the look and swapping the flat preset to a custom s-curve on the fly! :)

Curious when you think the final firmware version will be ready?
2months, 6 months?

I need some perspective on how to do the following with the current Helium FW. I want to use the highcontrast rolloff4 look with 4K prores422HQ recording. But if I shoot in this manner without R3D simultaneous recording I can only playback the RWG LG310 without the LuT applied (I know this will change eventually). This is an issue with one of the directors who doesn't want to look at log footage on playback.

Any ideas of what I could do in the meantime. I did a previous prores job in DC RG2 for viewing and recording but then I lose the magic of RWG and LG310 plus the lowcon/highcon rollof4 look in post:( but I knew that playback was important on set. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Director's monitor with LUT capability.

Try Pixel Film Studios LUT Loader, it is free and works with FCP X and the preview LUTs.

Thanks Graeme! I don't understand why I can't seem to import those .cubes in LUT utility and FCPX

That's something best addressed to the makers of that software. I test in Lattice, Photoshop, Redcine-X, in-camera and Resolve and they all parse the file format just fine.

Graeme

Yep, but I can apply EVERY other .cube, in FCPX. The very same files I know I can apply in Redcine. It's just those 6 in the IPP2 preview folder that aren't recognized (FCPX says: Malformed DOMAIN_MIN tag Line:3)

Hi Alvise,

Have you tried Color Finale Pro's LUT Manager for FCPX with these? These 6 IPP2 .cube files import and apply for me, quickly and easily in FCPX. Running FCPX ver. 10.3.2 / Color Finale Pro Ver. 1.6.1.

Thanks Graeme- so excited for REDWideGamutRGB/Log3G10 to land in the Red Apple Workflow plug-in for FCPX. :)

Best,
Dusty

Thanks Dustin. Good to know. If Color finale works fine, I'm sure LUT Utility will do as well. Not now, at least for me. Have yet to give a better try.
Also, Graeme kindly emailed them

Cools. I was wrong too about the RWG and Log3G10 not being in the Apple Workflow plug-in yet- they totally are on my MP2013, so I must not have updated my laptop yet. :)

**I am not able to export Log3G10 to Pro Res 4x4XQ from RCX yet, as the app prompts me to select one of the previous log curves, like RedLogFilm, instead. Pro Res 4x4 works though..

This weekend shooting a music video, getting great results on my Weapon MG with REDWideGamutRGB/Log3G10 dual RAW/ProRes422. Baked on Prores without IPP2 great image results using Phil's Chart. Average of 1000ISO - 1280 ISO on day light and getting very low noise... I am very happy with the look im getting. Love the colors and the DR overall.

POST: RedCine X applying the IPP2 and WOW! very cool stuff.

Note: Only issue I have in RedCine X is that it opens the R3D with DrangonColor2/RedGamma4 original format. It does not seem to recognize the REDWideGamutRGB/Log3G10 I used in the camera at all times... No biggie though...

Very Happy!!! I'll post some stills here when back in Miami next week.

Hello everybody, sorry if has been said before, I'm a bit confused.

How do I get the most out of my Scarlet-W now that ipp2 is out?

ON CAMERA:

_Video source: Graded / Color Space: REDWideGamutRGB / Graded Gamma Space: Log3G10 ? The levels graph on display appears "cutted" on the highlights, is it correct?

_Scarlet-w doesn't support the 33 luts, have somebody shared the simplified 17 version of them?

IN RCX or Davinci:

_At the moment I can't choose RWG / Log3G10, should I leave them on "as shot" and apply one of the Graeme's LUTs to start grading?

I'm currently shooting DRAGONcolor2 and REDlogFilm.

Turn on advanced options in preferences, and that will give you access to RWG + Log3G10.
