  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2 BETA V7.1

Running great on Raven, really appreciate the added focus peaking and snappier UI. I still am hoping for a faster start-up time in a future update (maybe 15s or less) but I’m sure that’s easier said than done. Thank you RED team for continuing to enhance our cameras!!

Does this add IPP2 and LUT support for Raven also ?

Nope.

In camera IPP2 requires Monstro, Helium, or Gemini and likely future sensor and brain technologies. Dragon bodies don't have the hardware unfortunately.

I figured, guess it was wishful thinking.

Do you happen to know , aside from the stuff mentioned in the top (screen tearing and backstage freezing), is there anything that would apply to raven ?

I was hoping to find the fixing for the ssd problem, I heard that it happened after tests to most people using the 120gb ssd, but overall great updates! I will install when the beta ends...

Of course Raven is DSMC2. As mentioned by other users that have tested you will get focus peaking and many other things.

Whelp, whoever did the leg work on making the Menus more punchy, a firm handshake and high five. Still testing, but I use the cameras enough to feel that difference.

Working great on DSMC2 Gemini. UI is very responsive indeed! Great work.

Can you guys make the shutter angle default? i fed up seeing 1/50 in last 10 years.I don't want to see that anymore every time i install new firmware or reset the camera. This is a film camera.

+1 on this comment.

Who on earth does not set it to degrees?

I keep it on shutter speed as well for obvious reasons.... or maybe I should give up using a cinema camera for photography purposes... :glare:
But on another note upgraded the MG to the beta. Let's see how it goes. But the focus peaking... Thank you for that addition! That will come in handy now and then.

Peaking and how you've implemented it is so good.

I haven't been on the forum for quite some time but always been buying the latest Red's since the beginning. I love this beta and the color. Thank you so much Red Digital Cinema.

Changing the color temperature with the side handle or the sidekick is still laggy and clunky. Hopefully this can be addressed soon.
