  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon in Sri Lanka

nvrt.jpg

The eyes of an elephant are very different from the eyes of any other animal I have been near. There seems to be a deeper, older, calmer soul in these creatures.

This is ISO 4000 on Dragon, wide open on the Leica 18mm Summilux C at T1.4, shooting 50 frames per second, 6K resolution RAW, in very, very low light. Standing about 4 or 5 feet from this elephant, I could not really see its eyes at all, with my own eyes. Dragon is a monster.

I will upload the 6K file if you guys can tell me where I can host it?

Thanks Tom!

Tom Thanks!

For the upload try mediafire and export the frame non compressed if you can... ;)

Ah, something I'm sure everyone would like to see is an A/B comparison of Dragon to MX, since you also have an Epic MX on hand...

:emote_happyhappy:

I know color science and all is not done, and not neccesarily from this frame, but what would really "bring out the geeks" would be a wide latitude shot as 16 bit TIFF, either linear (preferably, but a few people will have problems with those) or as redlogfilm @ base iso no correction...

But THAT is a "bring out the geeks" request... :)

Thanks, Geoff.

Here is the 6K file JPEG. This is compressed and saved in Photoshop as 8-bit sRGB at 95% quality. ftp://ftp.geoffboy.myzen.co.uk/Dragon/Dragon6K.jpg
Awesome, I love that shot ... looking into the eyes while neon lights. Not that you have any time, but I'd like to see some zero saturation shots (i.e. bw), I'm trying to decide if i need a monochrome dragon or if i should just zero saturate a normal dragon. I btw was in a restaurant and hearing about your story I remembered my last time I had food poisoning ... so I ordering something massively cooked and blanched (with water where I knew how it was bottled).

But we risk a lot of noise with such an image...

hahahaha

So if we get it, we should all remember:

It is not done or released yet
It is not done or released yet
It is not done or released yet
It is not done or released yet
It is not done or released yet
It is not done or released yet
It is not done or released yet

I can confirm that the "red dot" issue from MX Epic seems to be completely GONE with Dragon.

Geoff can we get an HTTP link of that file?

Thanks Tom,Phil. Very nice noise texture for that ISO.

Looking forward to seeing a direct MX/Dragon high ISO image compare. I know it's a pain to set up twice, but the Scientist part of me really wants to see that 'control' image to compare to the new image ;)

Tom, I hope you had the usual medical kit with the nuke antibiotics for food poisoning. I hate taking them, but learned to pop those pills in March when I was in India. I always get sick in India ;)
