  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Thanks for the update, Erik. But seriously, man... you gotta talk more realistically about these 1-2 week timeframes.

Including the machine time, anodizing and laser engraving - this is a two week process for parts to start coming out the back end in volume.

...we finalize everything this week. CanonEF mounts with confirmation numbers 107.x should start shipping 22 February; 108.x the following week. 109.x the first week in March.

We expect to have the final PCBs back tuesday of next week, and start shipping 29 February.

...first 50 units should be rolling off the production line next week. Knobs might not be available until the following week.

On Monday we should be able to start assembling 200 Canon lens mounts. I believe we will have all remaining materials in house by that date. Our production capability is about 50 units/day.

The final RED specific mechanical parts are being made in the next few days, so they should line up with shipments wearly next week.

[Responding to comment about "notifications of imminent delivery" on 3/31:] Still on target for this...

We will start shipping the middle of next week.

In the next few days parts will start rolling in volume.

The circuit boards for the knobs will be here friday morning. Knobs will be in production next week.

...I'm just saying... :whistling:

can you imagine erik as a parent? "dad you've been saying I could get my license next week for the LAST 3 YEARS."

I kid I kid.
please erik. we only put pressure on you because we crave your lovely mount on our reds. Mine arrives soon. Help me obi wan kenobi. You're my only hope.

So Erik, could you please clarify how your mount now attaches to the camera?
You mentionned Doug Underdahl's videos but judging from the pictures you posted recently, your mount is a different system altogether and needs for Red's adjustable mount to be removed completely.

I will be at the REDuser party situated between AquaVideo and ViewFactor Studios. It will be a hands on opportunity with a production mount on a RED camera, connected to a prototype knob and an HDMI monitor.

And I got a ticket!

See you there!

This is the one time that I will be available to talk with customers... unless of course, somebody recognizes me on the floor of NAB... oh wait... nobody knows what I look like. :bleh:
I wait for a pix in order to know who I can look after when you'll say that you have no notice on my 2nd order or it is necessary any sort of collimation. Count on that. :)

courier arrived from the shop...

courier arrived from the shop...

The good news is parts arrived... ten sets.

The bad news... only minor. One surface that should have been scotchbrited (how we get that silky finish, oops let out a secret) wasn't, so these parts are functional but not cosmetically perfect.

The three empty holes in the right side view is where pins go to actuate the switches on the circuit board. These pins will be here tomorrow... which is when I will post more pictures and another update.

The collimation feature rocks... I will explain it with pictures tomorrow.

Erik thanks.

All amazing.

Looking forward to finally get it.

So it's finally all coming together! :weight_lift:
Looking forward to seeing some more pictures. The mount actually looks very clean.

I may not be a professional photographer... with a $20 strobe tethered to the camera, one can really hide a lot... Alternatively, the photo for the machine shop will be lit differently and look ten times worse than it really is. :whistling:
