  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I thought that is what 7D's were for. Would you pay the extra bucks for a crash cam?

I was at a post house, sitting in a Flame suite, recently.... and the operator showed me a TVC shot on a 5D. I remarked that it looked quite good. He said, sure, as long as you use cine lenses, grade the sh!t out of it in Baselight and don't move the camera while you're rolling. Laughter ensued.

EOSHD is a troll, nothing more.

LOL- the delusion amongst DSLR fanboys makes Redusers look like disloyalists. The most exciting thing about DSLR's for pro use is the growing dissent amongst clients (at least ours anyway) of the shitty quality they more often than not produce.

SMART MOVE RED TEAM:

What I would also expect will be the MOST IMPORTANT gain from this announcement, is a much better supply of accessories and replacement parts for the new PRO cameras. Availability of those items after shipping are as tantamount to RED's future as a PRO camera company than any new feature set they will release.

This is just fantastic news.
 
Guys, it's ok to like different tools for different projects and situations. Why does it always have to be a "victory" over one camera system or another?

I should send this guy a present. I'll bet he doesn't understand how much this helps us.

Prosumer cameras are ones that hold back capability. Professional cameras don't. I guess us committing to always putting out every possible invention, advancement and not building a "price point camera with neutered features"... is a bad thing?

He is speaking to a ton of people that might not otherwise know much about RED. While his packaging of the info is probably not how I would say it exactly... the end is the same. If you aspire to be a professional, go see RED. If you are OK with line-skipping...and an assortment of other cost-cutting features, buy what he likes.

I should be embarrassed for not building a consumer/prosumer camera and sticking to those that dream big? I'd be embarrassed if it was the other way around.

No matter how he tries to spin this... the real message is clear. Scarlet is more "alive" than ever...

The fact that anyone took your original message to mean the opposite is absolutely ridiculous. After reading page after page on forum after forum it's become clear that this has all been sound and fury.

Glad to hear RED have a clear vision of who they are and where they're heading - full steam ahead.

Isn't this illegal? It's a clear misrepresentation of facts, rather than a flawed opinion, with a clear (malicious) agenda. While it was able to dig up a particular post from Jason, it very conveniently completely ignored the very post where Jim confirmed Scarlet 2/3" Fixed is all alive and well, and there are no further price increases.

Anyway, it was quite entertaining.
 
You're right Jim, but it's also obvious he has some sort
of grudge against Red for not being mentioned on the
forums.

Red makes its money by selling cameras -- it doesn't
make money from this board. From the looks of it, this
guy makes a good portion of his income from the website
and is upset that he's not getting love from Red or the mod
at DVX user.

Apart from your interpretation of his comments, I would
take this guys perspective on Red with a grain of salt.

lovely how one of the comments states about how a great journalism piece that article is... because you know how that article had no bias at all and is purely objective :emote_whack: (sarcasm, just to be clear:-P)

Jim,

This begs the ?, are you building professional cinema cameras or professional still cameras? B/c they are different enough that it seems one camera really can't do both on a truly professional level. To use a car analogy, are you building Ferraris, pickups or crossover vehicles?

For example, it appears that some of the issues with Epic have come from trying to cram everything into a form factor that can be configured like a DSLR on roids. But that would not have been necessary if one of the design goals were not to use the camera as a professional stills camera.
