  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

2/3 scarlet or full frame

.

So if you plan on a 2K delivery, you can easily mix the 2/3" footage with the S35 footage, as long as you're using the 2/3" Scarlet for wide shots and areas where DOF isn't as important. If you plan on a 4K delivery though, then I wouldn't advise it.

Hi,

By choice one would use the highest resoloution format for wide shots, not the lower.

Hey people,

To me the difference between the 2/3 and the s35 is the sensor advantages.
I prefer to go for the s35 and shoot on 2K but it will have more DOF better S/N and more.. and it has top quality images as I think it shoots on the big sensor and downconvert it to 2K in camera. While 2/3 will have a same top quality images on 2K but not exacly the same 2K. We know the RedOne with the big sensor it has wonderfull fine images, so the s35 sensor is practicly the same sensor. But we have not seen images of the 2/3 red yet to compare. So to my gues and comparing the sensor, the 2/3 uses a blow up in the camera to 3K and not excaly RAW 3K. The 2,4 and 5k on the s35 on the other hand can do RAW seeing the sensor size, atleast it does up to 4K am sure.

This is true, but if you had a two camera setup of two people, you would want the S35 Scarlet in the medium shot and the 2/3" Scarlet for the wide shot since one would prefer to have shallow DOF in a medium shot than in a wide shot.

Just my two pesos. :)

Don't think so.

I'm pretty sure if they say the Scarlet is 3k, they mean that the sensor is 3072 pixels across active area (or very close). If they say 5k, they mean 5120 pixels across active area (or very close). Anything less than that would be cropping in and effectively having a smaller sensor.

Hey

You can be right, I am not an expert in the field, but the coparisation of the sensors to each other is huge. The s35 sensor is 6 times the format of 2/3, So that would theoreticly mean the s35 sensor could handle even a lot more than 5k? like 6 7 to?.

I suppose you will be able to shoot nice 3k with the the scarlet 2/3, no doubt ,but bottomline is when you shoot 3k it with a bigger sensor you will be able to capture more image detail with results in a more perfect plate, kind of logical.
