  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WC Top plate and fun with POGO connectors

Here is the adapter I had made to keep the side lemo on the operator side. It's a simple "sheath" for the connector. 4 set-screws hold it in place. The original cable is not altered. Then just locks into the 19mm top mount. And has some leeway to spin a bit to alter the direction of a right angle Lemo. A great solution until a purpose made adapter with a front pointing Lemo is released by someone.

Nice hack.
Not sure it is shipping yet but I think wooden camera also has a direct pogo -> lemo cable in the work.
Instead of providing a female plug like the one you used from the top plate it is a male connector that goes straight into your monitor for even less clutter...

I really need a pogo (camera side) to pogo on the monitor for underwater housing which I think Wooden Camera is working on but if anybody else has a solution it would be great. The connectors (and particularly the direction of them) make it difficult to fit in a housing.

I think this would be useful for many others as well since it's kind of silly to go pogo to lemo to lemo to pogo - with the cable that's four (expensive) Lemos.

Are the pogo connectors (by any chance) some standard or available somewhere?

I would love to have an LCD adaptator that has a lemo wich points towards the front of the camera. I wonder why none makes it? It seems so logic.

RED (or somebody) should make a Lemo Adapter that converts the side POGO to a forward facing operator side Lemo at the camera front. All the benefits of the Epic configuration (which are many) with a little more space around the mount for lens changes. I can only think the "A" adapter put the lemo at the operator side rear of the camera facing up, because they wanted one adapter that would work on the side and on the top. But that is a really useless position for the Lemo.

Think again and think gimbals. I had the same mind set until I bought my Ronin and realized that the side back postion of the weapon side lemo is excellent, it makes perfect sense, the cable goes straight up to the handle bar without much interference with pan moments as when the lemo was sitting in the front. So I think that positon is really forward thinking.

And this is another application that calls out for a simple pogo to pogo cable for using DSMC2 cameras with the 4.7 weapon LCD.

Needing adaptors to use the old cables to get the monitor off camera - which means four additional LEMO connectors - is a lot of extra expense and fault points.

(I'm not saying the current products aren't necessary too, just that the pogo to pogo cable is also needed - I'm fine with buying from Wooden Camera - it looks really nice - but a Red version would be nice too.)

Sure. But I know of a a half dozen of the most common configs I see go out the door on features and TV in which that "forward thinking position" is a serious buzz kill.

Thankfully ... it's modular and you can change it. That's what's cool about a pogo pin contact interface. You can have it your way.

More solutions and options will be at NAB.

Pretty sure you are gonna see more options for configs with DSMC2 than any digital cinema camera in history.

Mark - what do you mean you can change it? Is there a way to get this turned the right direction.

Blew our minds how poorly this was conceived when we got our cameras. Its fine that they've got one that lets you fly a gimbal. But where's the real one? The one that faces forward where the EVF goes... The one that doesn't put a lemo in the operator's ear.

If we can reposition the pogo to turn this thing forward that would be ... very nice.

You realize you can put it on top and it faces forward right? Just on the AC side not the op side, which is actually really nice

And the wooden camera too plate solves all if you don't want to stick to red parts

Apologies if I am derailing this thread, but I'm hoping someone here can help. My plan is to attach a Nato rail to the left side of the wooden camera top plate and slide a Red Spinner onto that to mount a DSMC1 EVF, but I'm worried the Spinner will hit the pogo connector. If any of you have a Spinner handy, I would very much appreciate it if you could test this for me.

Thanks,
Rob
