  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Brook, is there an option to route the cable out the side or back instead of the bottom? On a shoulder rig, having it come out the bottom could be less than ideal.

Thanks man, just placed the order. Hope you had a ton of these made? Hope I don't have to go into backorder-mode again...

Adam,

The cable coming out the bottom does not go lower than any connector coming out of the epic. This would not effect a shoulder rig.

is there gonna be a ChesePlate w/Male Adaptor Module Lock for multiple mounting options in the near future?

We'll post a rendering once the weekend is finished. The plate has 5 1/4-20 tapped holes built in for those that don't want the additional adapter.

just ordered!, exactly what i was looking for, great! Where do the 4 little silver screws on the back of the epic come from, are the included in the order of the battery plate, or do you get them with your epic?

Those four screws come with the battery plate. There will be packs of replacement screws available in case people misplace them.

Hi Brook, great looking plate. Just ordered one. How soon until a longer cable assembly is available? And will custom lengths be possible?

Thanks

It shouldn't be more than a few weeks for different cable lengths. We'll be shipping the standard short cable length until then - I'll update this thread when other cable lengths are available.

We've made a ton so far and more are being cranked out every day. If we end up behind, it means that you guys ordered A LOT. :)

We tried a few different options and found that the bottom is the least likely to be an issue when you consider all of the different mounting possibilities.

Will this battery plate fit on the back of the I/O mod.?

[edit: Now live in the VF store!]
Want to mount the APU on your Epic Backpack? Just snap in the Interface Adapter for the Backpack and the battery plate now has a compatible dovetail to slide right in. Want to mount it on the FMJ or Stealth Plate? Just snap in the screw-through Interface Adapter and you can add the quick release interface wherever you want it. Want to mount the APU to the back of your camera, no matter what Epic module you have? No problem - just install the appropriate Interface Adapter and you're in business. You can always have the APU at the back of your camera no matter what.

That essentially means that no matter what interface is introduced or what position you want to mount your battery plate in... you're always just an inexpensive adapter away from it working.

Based on this I believe you will be solid on mounting on anything RED releases module-wise.

I was looking at my Epic with the sliding top handle pointing to the rear.... and wondering whether the V-Mounts will slide on with this battery plate installed to the rear. Brook, have you checked this out?

EDIT: I skimmed through too quickly...the battery / handle part has been addressed!

Brent,

May I suggest that, given the price of the unit, that it would be a good idea to include an extra 4 screws with each order? Realistically, any non-captured screw will get lost along the way at some point. I'd hate to have to put in an order for 4 screws and pay shipping costs that would be higher than the screws ;)

Thanks for considering,

M
