  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Update......

To have a MG weapon that has same ASIC's as CF

Frank, Brent already answered that question here:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?138234-Update&p=1564892&viewfull=1#post1564892

The difference in price between the Magnesium and Woven Carbon Fiber models is not due to the physical materials really.

It comes down to the internal ASICs. Processing power, boards, bandwidth, etc... The material, which exhibiting weight and strength benefits, is not what's making the camera a different price bracket.

Forged Carbon Fiber however does indeed increase the cost as the additional process, labor, and machining involved with making forged carbon fiber blocks is a wildly different process than woven sheets.

Thank you Phil I did not want to sound disruptive I simply have to explain to my investors the difference between camera systems .i truly appreciate Reds fantastic upgrade policy we will be now getting a CF upgrade i apologize
We were under the impression that the material that the Cameral were made of had A lot to do with price

I think I understand where that confusion came from, the FORGED Carbon price difference is purely based on the cost of the exotic carbon fiber, but that is just between the Woven Carbon Fiber and the Forged Carbon fiber which have the same insides and same performance.

Glad it is clear, Frank.

Hey Jared I was not asking Stacy about the specs but I'm glad you're here to talk about them this magnesium camera as much as you guys would like to say has been transparent from the beginning has not really been so it's been a slightly crippled beast that we are spending a lot of money it's upgrade my camera to and when I get out on set and they go GY1 recorded 120 frames or how come it doesn't have 33 by Lutz I have to say oh I'm sorry it's a magnesium weapon don't you guys understand the problem with this

Quick question. How long will the accessory credit acquired from nab last for?

As of now, no expiration date that I know of, but there might be some specific rules I don't know about how long we can carry it. I am sure our finance team will let us know if there is a window closing.

Not Jar(r)ed here (I must be chopped liver when I post), but I don't how to explain it anymore. The board sets of the Mg are different than those of the CF models. Those can do 33-cubed 3D LUTs. Mg can do 17-cubed. Those tech specs on RED.com have been there since the moment we took deposits. The differentiation of board sets has been as well.

I, for one, am not getting the "problem here". Do you walk into a Ford dealership and say there is a problem that the base V6 does not have all the same features at the GT V8?

Thank you for all the clarification BUT we still don't have final answer... What is cost of MG weapon with upgraded ASICs..... That's all I ask

See Jarred's post from earlier in this thread. He flat out says the cost to upgrade all your Mg boards to equivalent CF boards will be more expensive than delta between price of Mg and CF now. And that difference is $15,000.

Hey Brent its not our fault :P we are always getting teased and spoiled by you guys.

I am beginning to think Frank's REDUSER settings autodelete any RED post not from Jarred...
seems like he is not reading, just posting, probably from an android phone because i have no idea what he is talking about. jarred!
maybe frank just call your bomb squad rep, he should have the answers.

If one were to switch from a magnesium weapon upgrade to a carbon upgrade do you lose your place in line? Now that the path is a little more clear I'm concerned about the 8K future of the magnesium.

If you want to go from Mg to CF upgrade, we can carry over your original time stamp, yes.

Brett please do not I apologize once again if I made this difficult but I have a simple question to ask what does it cost for a magnesium weapon that has the appropriate ASICs equal to the carbon fiber model

It's Brent. Already replied to you here a few posts ago.
