  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet S35 is now...

And like Apocalypse Now, it will be a master piece. I think people have to calm down a little. If the camera you want isn't yet available wait for it or buy something else. This is the way RED do stuff and I love the way its done. I'm just amazed about everything that is going on. I bet Jim and the team are the people who wants these cameras out there the most. Its not everyday you have the chance to change how the system works. And they are doing it.

Calm down a little? I asked a simple question. The simple answer is apparently "not yet". Good enough for me.

All of the new info is getting a little confusing. No matter what they call it is there still gona be a NON fixed lens Scarlet type camera (brain only) for around $3750? Do we still have the option for the camera below the Scarlet S35, besides the fixed lens Scarlet?
Thanks

Yes. 2/3" Cinema and mini-primes are still in the mix. Cinema will also accept the interchangeable lens mounts the same as Epic.

called EPIC Light. The features have changed as has the price. I'll update in the next two weeks.

Jim

If Scarlet S35 is now in the Epic family, does that mean the Red Store will be updated and the Red Pro lenses, that are currently labeled to work with Scarlet, will no longer have those groovy check marks?

Or is there some sort of adapter to use a PL mount lens on the 2/3rds camera?

Every camera will be available with every mount. The crop factor, on the other hand...

LOL

That's just silly...

When was a timeframe for an announcement ever made?

Cheers and happy new year!

G

In Jim's original post dated November 26th (see top of this thread). He said he would have an update in "the next two weeks". That woud have been well before Christmas.

Endearing 1st post... I also said subsequent to that post that we decided not to put out any info until we were done, since so many things were changing.

Jim

Will frame rates on the Epic S or Epic light change? Upping the frame rates to 100 fps would be awesome! Or even a higher frame rate at 2k would suffice... Really excited to hear your announcement.

Even S35 is going going to smoke the comp... Epic X will dominate-There will be no comparison.

I'm sure this has been asked before but what kind of priority is there for existing Red One owners to buy Scarlet Fixed in addition to the stages program?

Let's say a Red One owner gets an Epic using one of the stages program, will he still have priority to buy Scarlet Fixed or is it first come first serve from there on?

I'm mainly interested in having some idea of when people like me who don't own a Red One can expect to order a Scarlet Fixed.

Hopefully it will be produced in great enough numbers that a waiting line won't be nescessary...
