  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDRAY NOW SHIPPING...

Those of you who asked about the RREncode process:

Included with REDRAY is the RREncoder plugin for REDCINE-X PRO. The way this works is that, once you receive the REDRAY player, you will need to download REDCINE-X Build 19 or later (which has the plugin architecture available as a Menu option). When you open the Plugin panel, you will then be prompted to install the plugin via internet download. You simply log into your RED Store account, and it will show up there. It installs rather quickly, and you are ready to go. (It will now show up in the Export Settings as an option).

If you would like to install more licenses, they are $20 each in the RED Store:

Notice in the screenshots below the option for ODEMAX for digital rights managed encoding... :-) (you can also choose unrestricted)

wow fantastic... if the RedRay does what it says on the box (and it has already proven so) I sense that cameras are going to become for Red what MacPros are for Apple!

Looks like I'll have to order one at the tail end of the week. You kids have got me all giddy.

Which means I'll need a 4K monitor. We'll see what happens on that front. Gonna do some "braining" tonight on that topic.

Exactly on the same position. Struggling. "To Redray NOW or not to Redray, that is the question..."

REDRAY is the easy part for me. The monitor thing has got me scratching my noggin a bit as I "kinda" want one even though it's got crazy dumbo ears for speakers, but I know there's one on the way I want way more, it's just not out yet. Which likely means I'll grab the cheap one at the moment. Maybe.

ODEMAX and REDRAY are part of my future and that decision was made a while ago.

Very cool!

Do you guys have a consumer version coming? With 4K TVs finally becoming affordable, you guys could take the world by storm if you get one out quickly!

That is as long as Odemex is ready soon.

Uhm, isn't that the consumer version? :)

Do you have a REDray coming up? EDIT: never mind, missed your first post :)

:) We'll see how long you can hold your horses.... hehehe.
1080p intermediary display is not really satisfying to go along with it, is it? hehehe.

Alright, here's a simple test using the RREncode plugin (using REDCINE-X PRO Build 19) and playing back from a 4K file.

The original clip was shot on RED EPIC 4KHD, 23.98fps@8:1 compression, and encoded using the RREncode Premium (18Mbps) option at 4K. Other settings available are Standard (9Mbps) and Cinema (36Mbps).

The panel used to test here is a Samsung 7500 Series 55" 1080p with future tests coming soon on Seiki and Sony 4K displays. The Samsung performed well in the 1080p standard mode as well as the quad split output.

Love the menu layout of this. The key of the investment is the 4 separate hdmi channels to split the 4K video for videowalls, ans ODEMAX will be killer. Ok guys, I'm submitting an order in the coming week.

Hey.. some of you probably already got a surprise from your delivery guy today.. REDRAY has officially started to ship :)

Great indeed!

Now we only really need that RED Laser projector... I just don't want to spend money on an other mediocre 3D projector... And might get a second one for on set 4k plays.

Or, we'll use this one on set on a 4K monitor now, and then buy an other when the RED Projector comes out... ;)

Just yesterday at work we had the newest 4k Sony projector installed. Is there a way to hook that one up to the Redray?

Just a single HDMI 1.4 connection. It *should* work just fine and I bet it does, since RED has been testing and showing with Sony projectors.

Ketch, the RED projector has a REDRAY player built in!
