  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDRAY Comments

that is why Odemax has fiber nodes placed in the major points across the US and Globally ( see the map ) to help distribute the loads. The average internet connetion in the US is pretty low.. but likely not for the demographic that is going to buy this player.

My internet is ready :)

What is the speed of the encoder, roughly speaking?

So... who else just ordered one and has nothing to hook it up to? LoL... bring on the 4k displays!!!

Good point.. until you get one, you can hook these up to your regular old 1080p displays just fine... REDRAY will downscale all your content for you on the outputs.

I think there may be some misunderstanding. 2.5 MB/s is 20 Mbps. 20 Mbps is quite a bit higher than the average internet speed in the US.

duh, of course.... - it's 2:52 a.m. guess I am a bit sleepy after all! Bits and Bytes who cares about that tiny bit - uh byte - of a difference ;)

thanks for clarifying Alex!

No RedBox tie in? ... just seemed natural...

Dumb quick question: so .RED is not an editable format, simply a final encoded distribution format?

PS> unbelievable compression there- congrats

Starts end of december.. some of you here will be in that batch. but this is a product that is going to have pretty high numbers as it crosses into the normal people world so the december stock is going to go fast.. it probably already has.
You sayin' we ain't normal!? Well, OK, I guess we're a bit mutated the lot of us.:emote_popcorn:

4 projectors?

4 projectors?

Good point.. until you get one, you can hook these up to your regular old 1080p displays just fine... REDRAY will downscale all your content for you on the outputs.

I spy a new business opportunity: selling rigs for mounting 4 x 1080p projectors into an UltraHD setup for rich home cinema buffs....

So ... ODEMAX.

1) Can you tell us what the platform fee is for distribution? (iTunes = 30% cut for Apple)

2) Will filmmakers have to work with aggregators or pre-approved distributors and/or be approved to sell their films on ODEMAX? Can I form my own distro company and sell my films(s) via ODEMAX without a aggregators / distribution company?

3) Are films hosted on ODEMAX automatically world-wide - or is it possible to limit territories?

Ok, Jarred one more:

what about the DRM? if we have a downloaded copy of a file and carry it on a SD or whatever to a second REDRAY. is there a way to play it?

When will there be details about how distribution on ODEMAX works? Really curious about revshare %.

Revenue share for sold content is 70%-30% for most people. Theaters have a different split as they require some extra stuff. Everyone who creates a channel on ODEMAX ( which is all of you if you want ) you have access to theater screens, or better put the theaters have access to your content, assuming they want to show it. The backend has the most incredible user controlled dependency structure as well as the best reporting and statistics I have seen.
