The time has come to forge ahead with Weapon.
I'm very happy to introduce you all to RED Weapon Forged CF #47 - Skully.

Yes. Skully. I'm taking my bloody camera name back and it's totally appropriate with Weapon.
What started with Scarlet-X Mysterium-X in 2011, which lead to upgrading to Epic M-X in 2013, followed fairly quickly by upgrading to RED Epic Dragon also in 2013, has now lead to RED Weapon Forged Carbon Fiber in 2015. Equipped today with the Dragon 6K Super 35mm + Sensor and relatively soon the 8K VistaVision+ Sensor when that becomes a reality.
I got the email today from RED that my camera was done being upgraded and ready to pickup. I headed down to RED Studios Hollywood and picked it up from the great folks and Shadeslayer at the RED Store.
This is following a tremendous two years of shooting some of the most important footage of my career as well as the most beautiful images I've shot to date with RED Epic Dragon.
I've been a member of REDuser for a long while now, but for those who don't know, at the beginning of 2011 I made a fairly large decision to leave my studio role as a Digital Imaging Specialist to pursue my growing career as a Director and Director of Photography. It was a big step. Prior to that moment studios provided cameras for me to use for the most part, pretty much anything I needed. Once I left that studio I found myself closely eyeballing and finding a way to fund a RED One Mysterium-X, but financially at the time it was still a bit tricky. Making the decision to jump into the RED ecosystem was initially scary as hell, but I was determined and needed a 4K camera solution. Because of my background in film there was no compromise to be made on the resolution front. RED on November 3rd 2011 made that decision real easy. Something felt right inside me when I picked up that camera in 2011, something felt very right about contributing more deeply here on REDuser, and my RED journey began.
Since then I've been very fortunate to work on some fairly large productions and for some of the biggest clients in the world who demand the highest quality images. That lead to the amazing opportunity to instruct at REDucation and even more advanced Dragon workshops in South Korea and Japan. Which even lead to organizing my notes I've shared here, privately, and at the workshops about the DSMC RED cameras in the RED DSMC Field Ops Guide that came out at NAB 2015. Which was shortly followed by completing my largest budget Director/Director of Photography gig to date.
It's been an absolute whirlwind these last couple of years. That's due to Dragon, the support from REDusers, and the big support from the people at RED.
A huge thank you goes to Jim, Jarred, Brent, Graeme and the legion of other hardworking individuals at RED. Some whose names we know and many that we don't.
Thank you for continuing to advance the industry and producing the cameras I prefer to shoot on.
Time to dig into Weapon.
