  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

You always have the option of stage 2 for $19500 (IIRC) and keep your RED versus trade in stage 3 for $10,500. So if you can resell your R1 for anything more than $9K you are ahead of the game. I have a hard time believing that an MX upgraded R1 won't bring at least $9K. But even if you could only get say $7K you still would have had use of the MX sensor for that time period for $2K.

I have some minor questions about the upgrade program specifics, but because of the above scenario, all of this handwringing about whether RED should give an additional trade in if you upgrade the sensor seems to me a little silly.
 
M-X upgrade is something like that best thing can happened to your RED1 in years...

So why you would not take it?

The RED One sensor upgrade program has begun. They are working on somewhere near camera numbers 300-400 now from the last post I recall. Most of the information is in this thread.
 
I have asked this, but not sure if it's going to happen. In Europe, can we send to RED in pinewood for the upgrade?..come on RED make it happen, it will save a massive amount of grief with customs.

Looks like they are up to 600 now. I just got the email and I'm #561. Too bad I'm booked solid for the next 6 weeks....

What do you mean? My wife buys everything free - wheat free, gluten free, sugar free and it all costs double the price. Seems like a pretty damn good business model to someone. Mind you, with all those missing ingredients, not only should the price be free, they should pay my to eat that crud.

Red is the second camera system I have ever owned with an upgrade program!

Sony and Panasonic have never offered my cameras an upgrade path only a new replacement to kill my cameras off.

There is an update for my Moviecam Compact its $70.000!

I should be getting my #115 back next week. I like the Red program better ;)
 
And guys when your number comes up, please do let others know on this thread. It will give a fair indication to everyone as to when their turn is coming up.
