  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ready, Aim... Fire.

It is incredible, to be ale to watch this happening.
I feel a bit like a whitness, and I get everything I can take.
Thank you for this.

Jim, bring on the milk girls. Show us some real dynamic range. Whoohoo!

Thanks for the Graeme magic ...Team.
Would be nice to see some milk girls in fact.
Great work!
Cheers

Can we all be greedy and ask for one shot processed with RG/RC and RG2/RC2 and RG3/RC3 to see the evolution of the color science from inception till date?
That would truely make my day.

Thanks :)

Full Res, it is hard to tell anything but color with the resolution cut below half.

BTW: The wide shot now looks more like the color Peter Lik uses. I should go over to his gallery shop and see if they have it there.

Just woke up here on the other side and found this thread. Beyond awesome! RG3/RC3 seems like you get top class grading strain out the camera!
..and yes I have known the RPP are good as hell, but don't tell or everyone will get them and f-u my edge over here :)

We appreciate everyone's patience while we get it together... and we are. Your number will be called soon. Be prepared.

The stuff we have in development is unreal. We have invested in the future like you wouldn't imagine.

Keep your eyes open here. Pupils dilated.

My number has been called last week :) thank you. Progress seems real on the delivery front. Progress on the quality front - well its icing on a big huge yummy already cake. Looking forward to the future :)

Jim,

Love to have SDK delivered @ time too when RC3/RG3 released so that we can have the beauty of grading it too in our application of choice.

As said by mithun would like to know the evolution of color science & graeme's magic with side by side of RC/RG vs RC2/RG2 vs RC3/RG3

Jim said in the Red Color3/Red Gamma3 update thread that the SDK will be released soon or at the same time of the software/firmware release. He also said that the old footage could be graded to the levels that RC3/RG3 can achieve, using past methods, but not as fast. He also pointed out that in the firmware version our cameras will have an improved monitor path, apparently giving a more finished look to what we see in the monitor.

I think we will just have to wait until we use this on our own footage before it sinks in how much improvement in time and quality we get from this advancement. Each of our mileage WILL vary when it comes to how we finished our old footage. For some who are more professional in their approach, there may be little difference except in the time it takes to grade. For others of us, the new results will be astounding.

I have no doubt in my mind that past footage could be graded up to RC3/RG3 standards, but the color science makes a significant amount of difference to the "grade-ability" of a file (if there was such a word)
The whole deal with starting off with such an accurate representation of color/gamma makes the post world effectively push the boundaries a lot more.
Thus the request for a comparison. Just to drool at the evolution and to figure where we stand moving forward.

Yeah, they may do some comparisons, but in the past there were so many pixel peepers finding fault that I'm (just guessing) that they may not go down that path. Probably best if we do our comparisons in high resolution rather than something compressed for the web.

RED used to be Fire... Ready, Aim.

We have changed... just as promised in our tagline.

Now we are Ready, Aim... Fire.

We are now taking our time to get things right before release. REDgamma3 and REDcolor3 are the 1st examples.

RED is a different company than 5 years ago. 5 years ago we had no idea what we were doing. Now we are just beginning to get the hang of it.

12 months ago we decided to make EPIC in the USA. We made one every 12 hours and then fixed it for the next two days. Today we make one every 13 minutes... no rework.

We have been transparent throughout our history... for better or worse. Our progress can be tracked one day at a time here on reduser.

We expect to be out of backorder completely by April. We were known for backorders. That will soon be a thing of the past. Everything changes here at RED.

We appreciate everyone's patience while we get it together... and we are. Your number will be called soon. Be prepared.
