I know Red isn't really setting schedules any more but I was just wondering if they might have estimates or goals for MX sensor upgrades for cameras that are in the serial numbers of 1000, 2000, and 3000 (and I suppose those in the 4000 and 5000 range would appreciate a forecast as well...?)

I totally get that things change and set backs happen, but its more out of curiosity than anything else.

Thanks!

Scott

Martin,

I get that and it makes sense, but to me, a guess (no matter how off it might end up being) is still better than no guess... Personally, during the Red ONE delivery program, I was never upset when I heard that delivery dates were being pushed back. Things happen and I think most people understand that, but at least they gave us some estimate...

O well- I respect their decision and if I was in their shoes I suppose I would do the same thing. Just thought I would ask.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

All we can really do is look at who is currently getting upgrades and estimate ourselves.

I think they are up to the mid hundreds at the moment.

I doubt they will be able to get through more than 1000 serial numbers per month. At least not for another couple months when the percentage of users who will get the upgrade will probably drop. My best guess is that serial #4000 is about 4 months away.

It's a tough one because we don't know if Epic is 2 months or 12 months away. This would make the upgrade decision SOOOOO much easier.

If it's a year, definitely upgrade the sensor, but if it's two months, there is a very real per-shoot cost for the improvement...

We'll get a clue at Red Day on Saturday if they are showing working Epics or just the casing.
