RANGER Custom Rental House Camera

Jarred, this is amazing, and I know we can't get the Ranger, but can we at least get our hands on that GDU quick-release baseplate?! I've been dying for a good solution!

Yes. First week of Feb.

Hey man, these cameras as you can imagine are pretty expensive to make in low quantites. It doesnt really make sense unless you buy at least 10 of them. The rental houses were smart and after a discussion I had with them as a group at cinegear, this is the result. There are very few rental houses that can do this all by themselves but grouped together it works. You or anyone else of course can do the same if you either expand your business enough to become an authorized RED rental house or win the lottery :) It's one of Matt and I most favorite things to do is make these custom cameras so the more the merrier.

Win the lottery is right! ;-) First time I saw the one y'all built for Michael Bay I knew it was a great idea. This one is too. Glad you're doing these. And I agree with the other folks, you might be able to sell this as well to the masses. Not having to build a body with the various components is a real need. Plus it makes it more sturdy, less places for dust to accumulate or for things to go wonky. Food for thought.

This makes a lot of sense for everyone involved. Well played Jarred! I know owner/ops may be scratching their heads wondering why this won’t be offered to the masses but it actually makes a lot of sense when I think about the needs of rental companies, the crews that are used to working with said rental conpanies, and the business model surrounding a purpose built camera system that is ready to meet the demands of a rental market.

Praying that there's subtle hints of dsmc3 here. Lovely form factor, how much does this sexy thang weigh?

On one hand, I think this is fucking awesome! On the other, I am worried about the rental businesses that carry these because they will be the preferred target for thefts.

Would they, though? You could never sell it because everyone would know it was stolen. You would also inevitably tip off everyone that you had one in your possession if you tried to hang onto it and use it yourself.

I would think stealing a personal camera would be far less risky for a thief.

Hi Jarred

I own a busy rental house here in the UK. I would be very interested in purchasing a Ranger to offer here as part of my inventory. www.indiefilmhire.com
