Just a little something we made custom for RED authorized rental houses.

Not for Sale, but you will probably see them popping up next month in a few places so thought I would give you guys a sneak peek :)

This looks great.

I know it's wishful thinking, but maybe one day down the road customers on RED.com will be able to select a body as well as a sensor? These look SO GOOD - must be so tempting!!

Congrats again - love how you guys keep pushing/evolving.

Jarred. I bought my Red one in 2007. I was on DVXuser when we were all creating a wish list for the camera Jim said he would build and we dreamed about. i still have emails between jim and Kelly and I when i was sending 1000 depsoit on my credit card and in the end couldn't afford to do it, but ended up managing to scrape it together. I shot my first feature on a red one, with no monitor, 8gb CF cards, down converters, no evf. I've been through every proliferation since then, recently purchased a new gemini and dropped the same price as the camera accessorising it. You finally build the camera i've always wanted...... and i can't have one ?. You can only imagine the frustration i feel right now. I love what Red has done, how you have pushed the industry. I never complain at you guys, at Red....but this.

Ah.. the DXL light. This body looks like a great upgrade, as a former rental house prep tech- thank you.

Hey man, these cameras as you can imagine are pretty expensive to make in low quantites. It doesnt really make sense unless you buy at least 10 of them. The rental houses were smart and after a discussion I had with them as a group at cinegear, this is the result. There are very few rental houses that can do this all by themselves but grouped together it works. You or anyone else of course can do the same if you either expand your business enough to become an authorized RED rental house or win the lottery :) It's one of Matt and I most favorite things to do is make these custom cameras so the more the merrier.

Congratulations.

Beautiful BUT Ouch!!!!

Please don't take this as an invasive question. Does that mean this camera is too expensive for an average Joe to purchase or you guys want to test the waters before releasing it to the public (if ever)?

Me guessing there is a lot of stuff in there that is simply not licensed to be sold but can be integrated and leased / rented in a similar way panavision deals with their cameras. Or?

I mean it's clear you guys have a blast making these - I think the sheer joy in these mods is what I like the most, besides how insanely well thought out they are.

Can't wait to see more pics - especially in the wild!
