  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quickplate V-Lock Battery module ready to ship

can this plate work on a Pro I/O adapter?

been eyeing it for some time now, seems like the best option to power your Red.

Im tired of having the power port taken with my APU it should all be internal.

Perfect for giant Anton bricks and house power.

we had an improper shutdown and lost a take when a crew member was stepping on the cable on a dolly move. This tool will totally prevent that. We had the ABU and V Locks for all our camera accessories.

so far this plate looks like the best option since the APU

According to the store the quick plate can be mounted to +1 or module adaptor. It does not specify Pro I/O. Anyone from red got the answer to this, can quick plate v-lock battery module be safely mounted on Pro I/O module.

Could everyone please chime in with the Battery they're using with this plate?

Yep. Do it all the time. My favorite configuration.

hi damien, may i ask when did you order it?

thanks, norbert

Hi Norbert,
Sorry for the late reply, I have to say, I forget when I ordered, quite some time ago. I take it you've got one on order you're waiting for, any news?
Cheers,
Damien

has anyone else been having issues with the aux out ports?

Took the new plate out on a shoot for the first time today and continually got this message. Only running a BDR, with the correct polarity on the Lemo cable.

With a full IDX batteries and the Quickplate Module, the Epic powers up long enough to say that it has 0% battery and then shuts off (Epic Firmware Beta Version: v5.1.23--latest). It works with Red Bricks though. Beta firmware issue?

Any updates on this issue? Can you confirm that IDX batteries (or any third party) still do not work with Beta Firmware v5.1.29 and Quickplate Module. If using working batteries does it hot swap to side handle batteries?

Hi Brian,
What batteries were you using? I've had issues with some Global Media Batteries that could not handle the extra power needed for a Bartech FF, no problems when running with Red Bricks. I've had feedback form Global Media about this, some of their batteries have a protection in them blocking two much power being drawn at a time. They now have newer batteries that can handle an extra load. Just saying, it might be a battery issue. I haven't tested my aux power outputs yet. I will be doing that as soon as I get a chance, although I still have D-tap cables for most of my accessoires.
Cheers,
Damien

Both IDX Endura 10s and HL9 work the same way for me on 5.1.29: They work but report 0%. Camera has still not powered down or given error message. Hot swapping works great.

Do you have a side handle with a REDVolt installed? Camera will draw power from a V-Lock battery that doesn't communicate power as a percent while a REDVolt is present and read 0% for battery on the Quickplate. Pull the REDVolt from the side handle, though, and the camera will display a power warning and begin a countdown to shutdown. Unchanged from 5.1.23 as far as I can tell from brief testing.

Currently need to use V-Lock batteries that can report remaining charge as a percent to the camera. Those work great on a Quickplate (multiple battery brands).

Mark is absolutely correct; without a charged RV in the SH the camera shuts down after 30 secs, even with a fully charged IDX on the Quickplate.

Honestly, this is not too big of a deal for me right now since I like having a charged RV in the SH anyway for hot swapping. Obviously it will need to be addressed eventually but I trust it will.

I'm still waiting for mine that I ordered in September, I now have another one ordered and really need them both as soon as possible. Please send some to Red Europe. The website says orders placed today ship within 2-3 weeks.

same here...

Still hoping that there might be a version coming that doesn't need the adapter module. Kinda like the Redvolt XL back module on which you can chose if you want to use it with or without the adaptor module.
I do have an adapter module, but I don't like the idea of adding unnecessary weight to the camera.

Any chance there might be such a version coming in the future ? Any reason why it wouldn't be possible ?
