  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

just having 4K stream to your home is a weird thought, if you think about e.g. apple right now only pushing 720p through the pipes.
your codec kicks major *** ;)

I saw a pic on Tonaci's Redmodz of the Red Side Flags for the MB and what looked like 4 or more stages on it...info please?

And what about the I/O module? Interesting pic there, and appears to double the size of the Epic with the Redmote on the back...any more deets?

Knew it. It was odd that this was done on Red One, announced for Epic, then pulled back. I suppose it was pulled in the interest of being safe with promises until it was clear that it could be done in a feasible way. But it was a given for me all along. You guys know your stuff too well not to have things designed so that it could be done in a massive scale and at low cost. But that doesn't diminish the massive "Thank you!" This is one of the best aspects of Red as a company.

Seems like a very sweet idea. Of course there will be a code that has to be entered to gain access to the camera, right? Well, that's a "duh" I suppose. Just thinking aloud.

I was hoping this was for theaters. But I think I can see how this would have a greater impact on 4k acquisition as a whole. Sounds great. Hope it is good enough to grade on! Please, please, please. Or a pro-version that is. Is that a possibility?

REDray consumer sounds like an other monumental stepping stone for the 4k movement. Way to go Red. I don't know enough, but this and the consumer projector sounds like big and smart investments.

I've made the same point elsewhere. I understand that the ongoing situation in Japan has made setting prices and release dates virtually impossible. But I would've thought that the features and specs were already set. I can't see how disclosing them now could possibly help the competition. The only explanation is that the use of alternatives for the small number of outstanding components might require a change to the feature sets and specs.

Just watched it, and if that was the right one... I am sorry, but as a 7D owner I disagree with your take on it.

Keep in mind that Ted is speaking 24/7 at NAB, he is saying the same stuff over and over and over. He always comes across as trying to keep himself out of the story he is telling, aside from an obvious and inherently logical enjoyment of Red's awesome products. Everything he said was true. DSLRs resolve very little over 1k detail, Epic will resolve very little under 5k (and way more than 4k), Epic is a professional cinema camera, DSLRs are obviously not so much so.

I don't get that at all from this video. Ted seemed to shift his presentation to the Dslr folks (interview was with cinema5D). Many people now use Dslr's as their entry point into the world of video production and may not understand the EPIC or Scarlet tech details and advantages.
 
I think this Red Ray Player and 4K laser projector for the house is coolest news I've heard in a while. Cannot wait to see what the projected image looks like.

Red Ray Pro will be amazing for dailies, projected at 4K. Imagine that.
 
We gotta wait and see if they consider it a grading projector. If so Tom could set it up on a stand and grade on a pull down screen on the side of his RV, under the stars. :)

Thank you for Dragon and I cant wait to hear more about the projector. Will say please think more small room DI suite then consumer home theatre, in my mind RED are pro all the way and a high end projector designed for small venue's (grading suites) would be fantastic compared to the large venue (need a separate room & 5 people to left it) projectors out there.

Same here. It is fun but the list could have come simultaneous with the opening of NAB. Maybe they wanted those searching for the information and those going there to get a head start. I don't however see it as a "problem".
