  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Neat Video for DaVInci 10 now available...

Wow, only 50 USD for Premiere Pro?

Does NeatVideo essentially lower the noise floor so I can push into blacks harder?

keep in mind i think the $50 'home' version limits render resolution to 720p...

and yes, that's essentially what noise reduction does ;)

The 220fps shot was at 2k? That's not noise, it's compression artifacts.

Can you share the before and after?

Yes, at 2k. No its noise in the shot, but maybe we are not talking about the same shot.
I would love to share the before and after BUT we moved to Macs a while ago and I only have a PC licence for Neat Video so I haven't been able to do any noise reduction of late :P

/Andreas

Do not try Neat with Premeir (CS6) their is a bug that stops it from working. Has it been fixed with CC who knows ...I dont. Wasted $100 on vapourwear.

Having said that Neat for AE apparently is stellla.

@AndreasOberg I just got an email from Neat because we are currently Mac based right now and plan on in the next six months to a year making the choice of staying Mac or moving to the PC world, and Neat said you can pay a $20 fee and change the platform of your license. FYI

Been using it in CC for months and not an issue...

It's worked great for me. I have a ton of misc low light footage I shot on my R1 in a bar with only a small LED fill light mounted on camera and using Neat made the difference between showing the footage and not showing it.

Question about workflow - at what point are you applying Neat when in Resolve? Are you doing it in the first node or are you doing all of your balancing and grading and applying it in a final node?
My preference is generally to do it in a final node, but you really have to apply (or not apply) the setting on a shot-by-shot basis. Not all shots are equally noisy, and you tend to lose a lot of detail when you really crank any NR hard on a shot that's already clean.

If you already have Resolve, why not try using the Spatial and/or Temporal Noise Reduction and see what happens? On a good system, it can do wonders, assuming enough graphics power and RAM.

Also, best part is that I can forego the Full Version and stay in Lite which was the only reason I'd have ever used my full version... rarely do I deliver 5K so I can just switch to the Full Version when needed...

Neat Video is working on the Lite version ? I've installed the OFX plug, but I can't find it in the lite GUI. Any idea where it is ?

It would be nice to start grading (well masking and qualifing) at home before finishing at the office.

Anybody notice any difference in performance comparing using it in Premiere to Resolve?

A year later and how is this plug-in doing in Resolve?

I am ready to buy and cant decide whether to stay on AE or Resolve.

Any thoughts?

They offer a demo version for Resolve if you contact them. Just tell them you are a previous customer and they will gladly send you the download link. I used it to see if I wanted to switch as well. They also offer a discount if you want to purchase the OFX version in addition to the AE version.

Thanks Matt!

Your thoughts compared to Resolves NR?
